I have a 2014 DK40 which has died due to low battery twice this year - once in the spring and just now, both after a month of no activity. The last time there was no crank and I had to replace the start relay along with charging the battery to get it going.

This time, I am getting the dash lights flickering with power and the starter giving a clicking noise when trying to crank. I would guess this means it is a simple issue of lack of power. It wouldn't start with a jump. I currently have it on a trickle charge and I'll try again in the morning. I cleaned the terminals last time and the only corrosion I see is on the bar that holds the battery into the tray.

It is the factory battery and has gone through 3 winters (2 with me and 1 with the dealer) and I'm inclined to replace it - since I need . Recommendations?

Take it to a auto parts place like NAPA or Auto Zone and have it load tested first.

NAPA sells Deka batteries rebranded under the napa name, great battery made by east penn company. The battery(interstate) in my 2012 kioti DK40 is still going strong but I keep it on a trickle charger all winter when not in use.

Before you waste money replacing good parts, get a multimeter and (1) measure the actual voltage at the battery posts before, during, and after an attempt to crank. If the battery voltage looks OK you may have a bad battery cable. If the voltage is low the battery may be bad (check it as Murphy advises) or something in the tractor may be draining the battery (use the amp scale to check for a current leak).

In any case, a Battery-Tender style charger is a good accessory. A good one can be used continuously without over charging a healthy battery.

As ritchey mentioned, it could be a bad cable. Sometimes corrosion grows under the insulation, usually at the battery clamp end, and you can't see it. Also, check where the negative ground cable connects to the frame. Mine became rusted a bit and I got low amperage flow and it wouldn't turn over. Cleaned well, coated with copper antisize, and haven't had any problems for years.

If your battery has a shorted cell, even with a jump, it can drain enough power from the good battery to not let it turn over. Free battery check is always nice and then you know if it's good or not. Checking for a low amp draw with everything off is good to do too. About 2 years ago, a member reported he had his battery being drained and after many attemps by the dealer, a faulty chaffed wiring harness was found.

Start with some testing as mentioned and you should find the culprit.
