My rtv 900 will not start in temps under about 35 degrees. I replaced glow plugs but that did not help. Any ideas what I might try next. I did put diesel fuel conditioner in.

How long do you heat the glow plugs before you crank the engine?

Are you sure the glow plugs are working?
I have 2008, and it starts pretty easily when using the glow plug, coldest start I have ever done was 17 degrees, as it doesn’t get super cold here.

Yeah, that ain't normal. My 2006 RTV900 always started fine and it was only a couple times I had to heat the glow plugs twice. Those times were below zero degrees.
Ok, I think I have found the problem. There is a solenoid on a bracket above the throttle mechanism. I think it is a choke of some sort. When the key is turned on it pulls a disk on the throttle in toward the valve cover. When key is turned off it releases. That dusk gets stuck on mine. And does not release unless I tap it. If I unstick it the rtv starts right up. I think if I put a spring on the adjusting screw that would pull the disk back toward the throttle cable mount it might help keep it from sticking. Just a light spring. Any thoughts on this?

maybe just lube it with lithium grease first (or clean any gunk that you see)?

Yes just lube it at linkage point. If its energizing should work. Fuel shut off. If you wire it open tractor will keep running. On cold days here below 20 degrees usually a slow count to 8 is enough to start easily with glow plugs.

If your fuel solenoid is unable to allow fuel to flow, it will not start. I never had to tinker with my RTV900 but I know I would hear a solenoid click when I turned the key on. After shutting it off, I would hear the same solenoid click about 10 seconds (maybe more) later. I was just assuming that it energizes to shut the fuel off but I'm not sure.

Yes, it energizes to shut fuel off. I figured it out. It is the solenoid itself that is sticking. The rubber boot is torn completely right before the rod projects and I spray a little pb blasted inside and now it works perfectly. I ordered a new solenoid that should be Tuesday. Thank you all for your input!

The PB will keep it working quite a while. Had same issue with a ZD21 a year or two ago - I'll wait until the solenoid quits completely before replacing.

Keep the old one though. A cheap aftermarket one may not last long if that is what you bought.
