2008 XUVs

Tommy I appologize for my wording. A standard gator usually refers to the old 4x2 and 6x4 gators but in this context I ment all gators (except compact gators) xuv,hpx and T series have a standard warranty of 1 year or 1000 hours whatever comes first. As far back as I can remember it's been that way. I double checked on JD warranty statement last night just make sure they didn't change it.

Your HPX is a good machine. I would update it with the in dash choke cable and the new carb they came out with in 2006. It helps with the drivability.

I ordered one the other day and made sure it has a 20xxx serial number. One dealer assured me he had a 2008 in stock to sell me and when I asked him for the SN is was a 10xxxx number. Buying at this time I don't see any reason not the get a 2008 model, even though I still don't know for sure what they changed. But, when they bump the serial number range and publish new parts, service, and operators manuals for the new SN range, it's a pretty clear indication that they changed more than just trivial stuff.

I'm looking forward to it. This will be my first vehicle like this.

you'll enjoy it they are good for work and fun too. as for as the upgradeing my hpx i'm gonna wait til my engine gives out and see about dropping another engine in it maybe something bigger like that 29hp that kawasaki makes with that tapered shaft. i looked at the specs and sizes and they look the same i might have to fab up some new mounts but i think it will go in fact i know it will goi have a torch and three welding machines that says it will fit.loljust think a 29hp hpx.now that would be nice.

LOL. I bought my litle 4x2 at 1500 hours and I said the same thing, I'll wait till the engine gives out... Still waiting... 2600+ hours and still runs like a top. Maybey I should stop changing the oil?:D They originaly said those engines were good for atleast 2000 hours. Now I'm just curious how many we can put on it.

yea i know what you mean about the engine mine still pur's like a kitten . i change the oil regularly and keep up the maintance and she don't smoke or nuthin. i think i'm up to 600+ hour right now and she's going stronge so i don't see the engine givin out anytime soon

I don't know how similiar or different the engines are, but I owned a 2002 Kawasaki ATV with a 633cc engine and it had 42 HP. So the 617cc Kaw. engine must really be de-tuned for the Gator at only 23 HP.

yea i was just saying the same thing on another forum about how the polaris ranger can have a single cylnder 499cc engine pump out almost 40hp and the hpx has a twin cylinder with 617cc's and it only has 20hp. but if you have a hpx you would know that when your riding down the trails or road and you have the peddle to the floor the engine sounds like it still has about 2or 3k in rpm's it could go to even reach a good maximumrpm range on the engine. if you was to strip the mumbo jumbo off the top the engine and probably just use a straight throttle and get rid of all them govenors you could probably get some really nice speed out of that engine.

Changing the CDI on my ATV helped unleash the beast, but unfortunately I doubt manufacturers are willing to spend much time or money to research upgrades for the XUV. Maybe someone could figure out how to eliminate the rev-limiter for more speed and power.

I have a 2008 and it has a 20000 serial number. I ordered mine Nov 15th 07 and it finally came in on Feb 4th 08. It is definately an 08 according to the paperwork and title. Not sure why they changed the serial numbers. I don't know of any changes on the 08's other than fix any issues they had with the first year. Mine is identical to my friends 07.
