2007 Branson 4220i rear remote

I have a 2007 Branson 4220i that the handle for the remotes valve broke, i have welded it several times, but it just break, the handle looks like pot metal, the cost for a new valve is plan to expansive. I have heard you can buy an after market valve and mount it on your fender. Has anyone ever done this
