Price Check 2005 JD 990 with FEL, BH etc

I think the 990 could very well suit your needs, but I think for the same money you could get a 110 that is a more comfortable machine. If you felt comfortable with the 990 though it's a great machine and you'll be happy either way. If you can spend a couple thousand more you can get a 110 and it will better suit your needs IMO

I think you should go with the 990. I know I am a bit biased but... You can't get hurt. I sold my 790 after using it for 2 years and only lost $500. Well not really, I kept the trailer, box blade and rake that came with it. They hold their value. If hydrostatic is not an issue for you this tractor could be kept for a lifetime. If not, upgrade.

To all. I went with the 990. I got it for $24,500. I know that it higher than $20k but the thing is just like brand new. It is still $10k less than buying a new 4005 with all the same stuff. I grew up with a clutch on a tractor and it is not like I am going to be doing heavy duty loading etc and I don't have fields that I am mowing. My property is pretty much all woods. I think it will make a great tractor and it has a good little backhoe on it so I can use it to dig the footings for my barn and help in building the barn and then it can help with the garden etc. I do want to get a post hole digger for it.

It is only 20 miles from my house as well so it should make it easy to get it home as well. I am happy with the purchase and again I want to thank you all for your help with this. Your input has been top notch and you have given wise counsel.

Just an update for you all. I was trying to find a trailer to pick my new JD 990 up but was having a very hard time trying to rent a trailer and then finding someone who had a truck to move it. Then one of my fellow deacons in the church reminded me that one of the other deacons who has a construction business would probably have a flat bed trailer. The seller told me that I would need at least a 20 foot trailer. Well my fellow deacon's son in the business has a 24' trailer and the truck to haul it with so everything is set for the pickup on Saturday. I am really starting to get excited

I will take some pictures of it on the truck on Saturday.
