My son in law has our old 4320 and after the pto is engaged and the implement is lowered to the ground, the pto power slows down and stops. He has been told it could be the solenoid, any others have this problem? How did you fix it? Thanks!

There’s nothing binding up the pto shaft when you lower it? If you raise it back up as soon as it starts to die, does the engine come back to normal?

Does it do it for all implements?

Nothing is binding it when lowered. The engine does not lose power, rpm's remain steady. If I raise the implement, the pto will gather up speed in a few seconds and it's back to normal, until the implement is lowered and I start to brush hog or roto til. So, yes, it does it for all implements.

Sounds to me like a plugged fuel filter or a restriction on the fuel line or trash in the tank blocking fuel flow.

The engine never bogs down, it's only the PTO shaft that slows down.

The the pto clutch is slipping and is shot and you don't want to know how involved that is to replace...As in splitting the tractor to renew it. Of ot still sort of working, I think I'd off it and buy another tractor.

OK, thanks, doesn't sound good!

Not all tractors have to be split to replace the pto clutch disc. Some you can pull from the rear.
Some are accessed from the side of the case.
However it looks like the 4320 may need to be split,
there is a thread on Green Tractor talk about trouble shooting the solenoid and valve.
4320 Bad PTO solenoid or valve?

And splitting the tractor would not cause me to get rid of it. It can be fixed.
