2002 John deere price

I'm goimg to look at JD 4400 tomorrow, has JD loader, shuttle shift, 723 hrs, runs good, ag tires, 4 wheel drive, looks to be in good cond., the hood needs replacing, he dropped somethimg out of the bucket on it, 8500.00 and he is firm, is this a good price on tractor, any advice appreciated,

That's a very good price for a solid tractor.
My 4400 has the sync-reverser, about 900 hours (now...had 804 on it when I bought it) and cost me $13500 two years ago.
You can buy the hood on eBay. Price is about $300 but you'll need the hardware from your hood (if you buy the tractor) and the decals (from your local Deere dealer).

I really like the 4400...although there were some problems with the early ones (1998-1999), they were sorted out. The 4400s have few electronics to go bad, maintenance is pretty straightforward and the Yanmar engine is very solid (other then the engine, the tractor is Deere built).
The 430 loader is preferable to the 420, but either will be fine for most uses.
