2000BD 4wd not working

I was plowing up a field yesterday for a food plot and i was working the tractor pretty good when I heard a sort of clanking noise in the front of the tractor and now my 4wd does not work. I had this apart last year and I think ( keyword is think ) I know what happened but do you guys have any thoughts on what broke?
I will not have a chance to tear it down until this weekend.

Scesnick,

I can't answer for Norm but I'm pretty sure he is referring to the driveshaft ball bearings that fit fore and aft on the drive line. There are 6 (balls) per end and spring loaded...and occasionally they do indeed pop out and leave the drive shaft laying in your tube. It would be the first area to look before tearing into the FWD.

Hey thanks, I never thought of that. That could very well be what is wrong. You would think if it was a bearing on one side the other side ( wheel) would start pulling. Am I correct in thinking that?
