I'm at 212 hours; ye olde handbook says I need to change the Transmission Oil Filter. Do I really ? I did the coolant change @ 2 years and the stuff looked new. I know there's a thread around here about not losing a bunch of fluid...

Follow your manual, the trick is to use a shop vac on the fill hole to keep oil in the tank.

Regarding Anti-Freeze, I change mine every 4 years. If you look at your manual close enough, it advises that you change the hoses every 2 years when you change the anti-freeze.

I usually skimp on the antifreeze recommendations. But not so much on the oil. I would definataly change the oil and filters when they say. But me personally, if I am changing the filter, I go ahead and change the oil too.

But if you just do the filter, take the fill plug off first and put a shopvac over that hole. (turned on of course) The internal vacuum it creates will hold the oil in place and not make a huge mess when you take the filter off.

The shop vac trick worked great. I lost a little bit out of the filter and that was it.
