I thought your price on the 2520 was really good @ 14,500. I priced one on trade with my 4110..... 8600 trade in value and 6500 cash to boot = 14,100 for a total. This was only tractor, no attachments on either side. 2200 on the loader would be a good price also but the 16,300 wouldn't be too far out of line.
I don't think there was much of a discount in my estimate and we didn't get down to really getting serious. There is no huge advantage to justify the cash difference.

Hi KDD
Welcome to the forums:)
I'm thinking your JD dealer should be able to do a little better on price. I was able to get the 2520 with the 200CX FEL and 62D MMM for 18 out the door!

I love my 2520 and use it to cut 2 acres around the house with the mmm. I also run a 5 foot RRM to cut a 5 acre field. On very rare occassions I notice a slight lack of power. I'd personally go with the 2520. Mine has over 200 hours with nary a problem. I do have the rear and additional front lights. But drive them and see. My neighbor who cuts 4 acres with a mmm, just ordered a new 4520. He doesn't have any attachments, and won't be getting any. He just has the extra $ and said he wanted the extra hp - god knows for what. I thought he'd be perfect in a 3520 with a cab, but he likes open station. The point is, get what you want and can afford. He knows he's buying way more tractor than needed for a total of 5 acres of land. But he'll be happy. So, try them both out and see which one you like. I love my dealer, they've been great to work with, but I rarely see them.

Welcome KDD. You don't say where you live, so knowing your location will help the group give you advice.

Personally I'd go with the higher HP of the two Deere's.

But drive them both and see which you like best. However factor in the dealer as that is what I did. The Kubota dealer acted annoyed that I wanted to spend money, while the nearby Deere dealer was more helpful. I went with the Deere; but I find the parts department more useful than the sales department. The only experience I have with the service department was for a couple of warranty issues.

At $16,300 you could almost buy a 3032e from my dealer. The first Deere I bought was that model and paid $16,500 out the door with fel . It has 25 pto hp which is the min for a 5' cutter and I used one behind the one I had and didnt have any problems. Good luck in you're search.... Bull

I can't add anything better than you already have been given. I own a Kubota BX2660 and John Deere 2305. Both are good tractors, but I prefer the Kubota in this size while other prefer the JD, so you really need to try to spend some time on different brands and models to see which "fits" you best. In the models mentioned, I may prefer the JD; sure looks good on paper. I would also print off the spec sheets and lay them down side by side and get any clarification from the dealer not provided.

I am from the school of "there is no such thing as too much horsepower", so the 2720 would probably be my choice.

I used a 5' cutter on my 2520 and it did okay most of the time. I now use the same cutter on my 3320 and it works alot better. I think the 2720 and 3320 have the same engine. JC

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice. After being convinced by my longtime neighbor, who owns 5 Kubotas, I gave the Kubota dealer another shot.
He was much more helpful this time than the first. I am not awaiting delivery on Friday for a B3200 w/FEL. For me it boiled down to more tractor for the money. The $1,800 misquote on the JD 2520 almost brought that up to the price of the B3200. Thanks again!

Congratulations on your new tractor. The B3200 is a really nice tractor with some good features.

I just went through this same comparison. I'm glad that I went with the John Deere. Even though the 2520 had a better sale and reduced cost with attachments because of the sale, the price between the 2720 and 2520 wasn't really that much I didn't think. To me, it was much cheaper to just spend whatever it was now, rather than buy something too small and have to trade in a year or two.
