1988 John Deere 310C Backhoe

Engine will not start. Turned off engine with rear stabilizers in down position elevating rear wheels. Backhoe bucket and 4-in-one bucket on ground. Trying to restart only sounds alarm and nothing else. I am guessing the residual hydraulic pressure is activativating a safety device. No success trying to minipulate various levers to relieve the pressurized stabilizers.

Is trans in neutral? Sounds as if neutral start switch isn't making a connection.
