Tractor
Husqvarna TS354XD
I am looking at a tractor tomorrow that a local guy is going to be putting up for sale soon and he is giving me first dibs. It’s a 1979 JD 950 with about 2,700 hours. The tractor comes with a FEL and a back blade. He just replaced the clutch and brakes and is wanting $8,500 for it. I know nothing about these units other than a quick Google search. I am in the market for a new Kubota but this sounded like an interesting opportunity and wanted to run in by everyone. My uses are light landscaping and driveway maintenance at my semi finished semi wooded 3.5 acre property. If it seems to be a good deal, I might want to keep it for a bit instead of a new tractor but I’m a bit worried about ongoing maintenance for such an old machine. Should I buy it or use that money for a nice down payment for a new tractor?

I owned that exact tractor in yanmar version (3110).
the JD 950 It has a yanmar engine. the entire tractor was build by yanmar.
They're good tractors, but they are old school. no bells or whistles, but will get the job done.
I'm 6'2 and the way they're built it was cramped.
I kept it a few yrs and sold it. Bought a larger Kubota with larger platform to be able to get on and off easier. The Kubota also has Hydrostatic drive which I wouldn't trade for any geared tractor !

If it’s in good condition and barn kept maybe it would be worth that. I’d rather have something newer with a HST transmission and 4x4 though.
