1979 ford 3600 worth

Your tractor looks great, and I,m sure will look even better once you clean it up a bit more next week. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and possibly 1000s more in cash as well.
I find with pictures, that kinda gives you a small view at the surroundings the item is in, and does give me some idea of whether the owner is a careful owner or an equipment abuser. LOL

I have a 1979 Ford 3600. We bought new. Thinking about selling it. Would like to know what it is worth. All metal good. Repainted years ago. Square fenders, two rear remotes, new tires. Wheel weights, live pto, power steering, Dunham lehm/ farmland 22 loader. Also have soft cab, rear chains, ROP not installed with mounting brackets, shed kept, battery.
Diesel? Does make a difference!

My uncles 1979 has the rounded fenders. Did not know they came with the square ones as well. Was that an option? Agree that these models are all over VA and folks like them. I have been seeing them listed for around 6K.

Yes you could get either round or square fenders. You could also get either gas or diesel. You could also get with or without power steering. Only other options I remember was with or without wheel weights, Agricultural or truf tires. Rear work light, fluid in rear tires, ROP. and factory cab. With or without Draft. Mine is diesel. Ordered with square fenders, rear wheel weights, power steering, Draft, rear work light, agricultural tires with fluid, ROP. And loader. Took the ROP off years ago. Its sitting in one of the equipment sheds.

Here are the pictures of the tractor. Sorry it took me a few more days than I thought. Got busy doing other things.

Being a diesel is a plus. Are the engine hours known? Does it come with the sickle bar too?
Also might be good to know what state you are in in case the prospective buyer has to ship it.

I'm in Virginia. 4224.7 hours on it. Not sure if I am going to selling or not. Still thinking about it. Been trying to see what it's worth. If I do sell it. I want to ask what it really is worth. And if someone offers me some crazy low price. It will just here.

I would still list around $6000, possibly $6500. The tractor does look good, but its still not IMO worth more than that. I got a strong feeling of multiple offers at $4500; and then im not sure if I would take those, or keep it at that price.

BTW, the blue looks much more correct in those pictures; first pictures looked very dark, metallic blue. Not that it looked bad at all, but I was thinking metallic dark blue looks good, but also looks wrong on it, if that makes sense.

Yes definitely isn't factory Ford blue on it anymore. I had a 78 Ford truck that I repainted. A friend worked at Dupont so got a good price on the paint, hardener, clear coat. I liked the color and had everything. So just decided to go with it.

I'll throw a guess out, low end, $3500; high end $5250. I would probably target arout $5000 asking, and take $4500; unless its in just amazing shape. If really nice, I could see as high as $7200. I dont think the soft cab ads any value. Loader does certainly add value, but I have a hard time, even pristine, seeing about $7500.
A couple of years ago I gave $6k for a 3600 (I think they are all diesels if not it is a diesel) that must have had a lot of hours on it but the working parts must have been replaced/overhauled as it operated like new and had nice paint and new tires fore and aft. I have had it long enough to say that it was worth what I paid for it.

No loader on a general purpose, like the basic 3 or 4000 Ford for me. I bought a mid '60's 4000 scrap once with a loader and the front axle was upside down and you could see where it had cracked at the pivot joint in the center, had been welded back an the axle inverted to take the load off somewhat. That did cause the front tires to be cockeyed vertically but it steered ok.

The loader was one of those oil in the pipe frame with a pump that attached to the front of the crankshaft. Got it home and off came the loader selling it for $500. Got the tractor working and used it for many years...did have to do some work on the SOS.
