1974 Massey Ferguson 175 Diesel keeps blowing oil from the exhaust...

Seems that when the tractor has been used for a prolonged period of time, or even shortly under continuous or heavy pressure that it wants to spew oil from the smoke stack onto the hood and ruin my current shirt. Any clues on why it is doing this? I know she's old, but she's still a beast around the farm. I can't afford to have it blow up or be in the shop for months. What should I do? Any simple fixes or ways to check for possible solutions?

Does the tractor use oil? may be time for new sleeves and pistons. Light load use will cause wet stack diesel slobber too, especially if thermostat is too cold or stuck open allowing engine to run too cool.

Hours on engine? Oil change history? Engine temp when this happens? ....... Provide as much detail as you can.

If your blowing oil out the stack it's time to start saving up for an overhaul ,Time to back down the rpm's and work load .

I think you are right. These old Perkins are easily rebuilt. I would figure $1k if he did it himself and $3k by a shop? Done right, they are good to go for another 5 to 10k hrs
