1970 JD 110 harness routing...

Hello all,

Does anyone have a harness routing diagram for a 1970 square fender 110?

The original harness has been hacked and modified over the years. I ordered the replacement harness today and will install it as soon as it arrives.

I want protect my investment by avoiding pinching or catching in moving parts. The factory routing is the best, but I don't trust the current routing given it's history.

Go to john deere's website and create an account. You can register your tractor and then log onto JD Parts. They have all of the parts and wiring diagrams in a printable format. I have a 1969 112 which is nearly identical to the 110. I replaced all the wiring by just cutting olne out at a time a rewiring it. A grounded out wire is a good way to start a nice fire.

One last thing: If your machine doesnt already have it, pick up a battery cover kit from your JD dealer. They are free and will keep the gas from hitting the positive battery terminal and blowing you to the moon!

Hello GreenRules,

I have the routing figured out, just need to tear out the old harness and install the new one.

I have my 110 up on jack stands in the garage to work on it. I'm replacing the brake band. Then I will be replacing the secondary drive belt, tightening up the steering, fixing a loose RH rear hub, installing front lift rod (getting off of eBay soon), and replacing the magneto alternator to restore the charging system. I also already picked up the battery cover, but thanks for the tip anyway.

Then it will be time to hook up the 37A snowthrower I picked up in from Central Wisconsin Coop last Friday. It was a long, but fun trip.

I saw on another post that you have a rear ballast box for your patio tractor. Was it an original accessory? The 37A included a battery box just like yours, but rusty and minus the lid. Was green the original color of the ballast box and did it have a logo decal applied?

Also, what do you use for ballast?

The box is a genuine JD accessory and I believe it should be green, but I have only seen one other before. I have lead wheel weights in it from balancing tires. Like 50# worth. My 112 has a limited slip differential and it really digs in.
