1962 Ford 2000

New member here with a couple of questions about a Ford 2000 we just bought. model number is 20303 S, I know what the numbers mean but what does the S at the end mean?
The serial number is 148851 with a diamond stamp at each end. Does this high number mean that the engine has been replaced at some time?

The S at the end of your model number means it has a Sherman auxilary transmission. There should be a handle on the left side of the transmission housing to shift between ranges. The Sherman trans will give your tractor a high and low range in addition to the standard range. Your tractor should have 12 forward speeds and 3 reverse speeds. The Sherman trans will slow down or speed up the pto speed as well.

I knew it had a Sherman, but wasn't sure the S stood for that.

The numbers you show would make a 2000 light industrial (no frame) with 3pt and pto. It would have been built in 1961 and the colors of the tractor would have been buff and red. That year tractor would also have had the cyclopes style hood.
