Would appreciate help with two issues that I'm having. First, the transmission is overheating with the tractor running and stationary. Second, the hydraulics have been slow to lift the attachments and has now stopped lifting all together. thanks

What has been the maintenance history? Is the fluid level up? Is it foamy?

How do you know the trans is overheating.. There are no temp senders!

Have you checked or serviced trans and Hyds oil lately?

Trans oil clean and at sufficient level?

If yes, but no 3pt, see if pump is making flow by loosening plug on plate under seat and seeing if it leaks oil running, if yes, but no pt, post back with this info and the answer to the other questions, especially the one where you state the trans is overheating!

What makes you think this? Spittin oil?

Let me know if trans is overfull and Hyds empty, would be a perforated pressure tube at the base of the trans

thanks for your quick replies soundguy and dave. I'm embarrassed that I got ahead of myself and asked for help without knowing more than I do about this tractor. The tractor is owned by my 90 year old uncle and on a recent visit to his home, he mentioned the problems that he was having. I was hoping to get a few things that he could check to basically rule out "simple" problems. I now realize that this is much more complicated. Again, thanks

The simple checks are checking oil in the Hyds and trans, if Hyds empty and trans running over, a perforated high pressure line in the base of the trans is the usual culprit.
