I've found a very clean "G" here in California. Sheetmetal is perfect, straight and no rust, engine is stuck. Tires are poor. One weld on one of the steering arms if I recall correctly. Anyone venture a guess what I should pay for it?

Dave:

Some time ago in another TBN thread I ventured an opinion on a vintage tractor with a good engine, I think it was an 8N, that I said was worth $500-600. Someone, who apparently knows a lot more about tractor haggling than I, responded and told me that any tractor that's running is worth at least $700. So I suppose, with a stuck engine, that "G" you're looking at is worth $700 tops, if you buy into this line of reasoning.

Flusher, that might be good logic, and I was thinking along the same lines as far as value, but the "G" is a very unique machine. This makes it desirable if it is real complete and straight, which this one is. Fairly worthless by modern standards, but very high in the "what the heck is that" category. I could put a belly blade on one and use it to grade the lot, giving it some real usefulness.

Even as a non running 'parter' the major components should be worth 1000$ easy.

The intact hood, intact rear cowl, and intact fenders should bring 100-150 Hood, 75$ cowl, 35- 50$ fenders each.

genny, starter, head.. pan.. valve cover, block core, if not cracked and in 'bor-able' condition... trans.. especially if parted.. front housing.. tube frame.. nose.. front axle.. steering box and tube.. rims, hubs.. axle and trumpets ( with brakes ).. etc.. Gas tank.. radiator.. etc... Pile o' money setting there if they are not rotted and rusted out hulks..

Like I said when this thread started. It is very collectible. Buy it, put the diesel in it, use it and who knows, maybe one of today's tractor companies may see it (especially on your lot), and create another G! Let us know when you get it back to the lot....(I'm thinking ahead here.....) BobG in VA

The Saukville is a dead ringer for the modern day "G". Clever of them, I hope they sell well.
