Just bought the wife an expensive German sports car.

Hopefully she will look at the tractor later.

i think im just going to have to get the best i can afford at the time, if i get a screamin deal on a 2350, ill grab, i got a few quotes from some places, with
a few implements, and it was real resonable,
i think what it comes down to, is the 1850 is more than capable of doing what i need, the 2350 is the same size with some more guts,

but like said in a post before, i dont want to be that guy thats mows the yard with a tractor and doing it in 4 passes, would be nice, be done real fast, but also look like a tool. thankfully my wife really doesnt have a clue, and i also just bought her a nice expensive german, car, so hopefully, she'll let me play

you wont look like a Tool on your Kubota, everyone in neighborhood will be jealous

1*Since the size of the BX1850 and BX2350 is identical.
*Count me in as another who thinks that since the tractors are the same size

1*I don't think they are the same size.
I just bought 2 BX 1500s . The reason I went with them is because they are smaller than my BX23.

before this i was leaning towards the 2350, but just recently i had thoughts about the 1850, and these thoughts made me think i wold have too much.

i think it will come down to what i can get at the time. what is the better deal. since the wife told me i cant pull the trigger till next year, ill just have to keep researching, and going to the dealer to play.

when i was down at the local kubota dealer, they had several 2350's, but had none with a FEL, the same goes for the 1850, which they only had a few, but none with FEL, he said they just sold a ton being winter is on the way, yet it barley feels like it. i did mess aound with a bx24, didnt touch the backhoe, because if i did, id want it, and it would blow my budget. i just drove it around the lot a bit, and messed around with the loader. since the bx2350 and the bx24 are so close it gave me a pretty good idea of what to expect.
The only difference between the BX24/BX23 and the BX2350/BX2230 is one has a BH and the other 1 doesn't.
I got the BX23 because it only cost 3800 more than the BX2230.

I've decided to go with the 1850 but my situation is a little different than yours.
1* I already have a B3030, the 1850 will replace a riding mower. The deciding factor for me was that I can't get the 48" MMM on a 2350 and I have so many trees that anything bigger than 48" would just add to my mowing time. I love trees and won't cut any down to make room for a bigger mower!

2*I know the consensus is that there's no such thing as too much tractor.
1*I bought a BX1500 because I already have the bigger BX23 and needed something smaller than it. The BX1500 is replacing the CC GT2554.
2* Not true when you already have the larger tractor.

Back on track here...

I have a 2350. I also have 5 acres.
When i spoke with my dealer, I was already 99% set on the 2350, but, I asked about the differences anyway. He asked me "Do you have any hills?"
, "If so, get the 2350, you won't be sorry."

I think what he was referrring to is hydraulic pumping power.
You are using an engine to drvie a hydraulic pump. One is 18HP the other 23 HP. Though the pump size is the same, in gpm, the 2350 is going to pump stonger under a load.

Comparison (from the book):

BX1850 BX2350
Weight (no mower): 1212 lbs. 1245 lbs.
Tire size (hgt): F16" R24" F18" R26"
OAL incl. 3PH: 92.7" 96.1"
Width: Same Same
Wheelbase: 52.8" 55.1"
Ground Clearance: 5.9" 6.9"
PTO HP 13.7hp 17.7hp

Those are some of the main differences between the 1850 and 2350.
Thigns to consider regarding the differences:
-Wheelbase assists towing/pulling power.
-1" of ground clearance may seem minimal, but, go over a bump, log or rock and it can make a difference.
-2350 can handle the 60" mower deck, in my case, the 60" deck was a requirement, not an option.
-PTO HP. This is really something to look at when considering PTO powered implements.

Finally, just an assessment on my part, based on the brief info given, mileage may vary. A 1/2 acre lot is at the small end of the spectrum for these machines. But, considering the snow removal in the NorthEast, it is reasonable to see where it's not total overkill.

As far as bringing in truckloads of dirt, I think I would prefer to rent a Skidsteer. Much greater bucket capacity. A 1/2 yard bucket on a skidsteer vs. a 1/5 yd. bucket on the Kubota means more than double the efficiency moving dirt. I see the dirt work you describe as more of a 1 time deal.
For every 1 Yard of material, that is 2 loads you'll carry in a skid steer bucket, and about 5 loads in the BX.

I have moved a tandem wheel dump truck of gravel with both machines, believe me, renting a skidsteer for one day saves time, fuel and the wear and tear on your BX.

For snow removal (your annual winter work) the power angle front blade would shine over the FEL. I haven't used the FEL for snow, yet, but I hear they do "OK" but not a stellar job, unless you are digging out a blizzard.

I guess what I am offering is the idea of looking at your long term usage. Mowing and Snow removal probably being your #1 and #2 uses over the next 10 years.
I have the FEL, and it's great, I won't talk you out of it. But I cut trees, haul logs, rocks, dirt, mulch, etc. around 5 acres, I couldn't do without it.

The PTO HP could restrict you , depending on the implements you desire.
I had a Ford 1210 for a long time, it was approx. 13.5 PTO HP and I remember looking at implements that were calling for closer to 18-20 PTO HP to operate. It cramped my selection to all but the smallest implements.

I'm not giving you THE answer, or AN answer, just some various thoughts to help YOU decide what is best for you.

Just remember what my dealer said, "If you have hills, get the 2350".

GOOD LUCK!

1*Since I already have the larger BX23 and was looking for a smaller tractor the BX1500 filled the bill for me.
2* I'm sure the BX 1500 can easily handle what I do with an old 40 year old Bolens 8.25 garden tractor s0 none of these points were even a consideration for me in my case.
I've got the mowing covered with the 60'' mmm on the bx23 and a second BX1500 with a 48'' MMM for close in areas and around the house.
3*The BX1500 with the front blade is more for grading than for snow but it's there as an assistant to the BX23 with FEL for snow if needed.
