Yanmar YM1810d
Hello,

I've just brought on ebay a fork lift attachment for my tractor (see attached):D :D As I have a couple of pallets around I thought it would make a handy carry-all.

Does anyone know what the 1810d is rated to lift? The heaviest implement I own is my Yanmar rotary hoe, which as a guestimate would be around 200kg.

On the saftey front, I guess you follow commonsense and not raise the lift arms higher than you need to when carting things around the yard. Any other tips??

Regards

Bish

Be sure you have plenty of counterweight on the rear end. Some type of implement, your hoe, bushhog or such.

Sorry I forgot to mention that this is a rear attachment, ie. attaches to the 3 point hitch arms. Perhaps I'd need counterweight on the front end.

I built one similar to use with my Quick Hitch. (And to try out my new arc welder toy.)

The next picture shows what you can expect to to carry - I'm taking three garbage cans of water down to new trees. That may be as much as 800 lbs. (including the double-weight pallet and deck.) I think the lifting capacity of your tractor would be similar. You are sure to need front ballast.

I just noticed the forks on the one you got are about the same height as the three-point pins. You might ask the ebay seller if the forks are low enough to slip under a pallet flat on the ground.

Good on the 3pt mount as it will do better than up front. As you can see which model I have, based on rated load capacity of the stk front tires, I'm tech overloaded with nothing in the bucket. With that said, I've pick up a stump that must have weighed about 800 lbs (lifted from x-bar aft of the bucket) and nothing failed but tractor was very light on rear axle.

California - Love your work. An ambitious first project. Looks very heavy duty. Good point about the 3 point hitch location. I didn’t think about that when bidding! I guess if it doesn’t work, I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy myself a welder and start learning… Probably a good first project :)

Thank everyone for your replies. I feel more confident on how much I can expect to lift. Looks like the pallet forks themselves will be the weakest link. They are only rated at 250kg (or 550 lbs).

Having said that, if I do get that welder, I can always strengthen it down the track…

Better start asking the boss (my wife) for more pocket money… ;)
