Dodges with the Cummins are known for the overhead computer being off a lot. Mine also has an Edge chip that makes it worse.

I would rather have the 5.3 or 6.2 Chev gasser. or the Ford pickup truck gasser instead of the diesel. The Stang engine is setup for a lightweight car.
Why are you having a HP race o drag racing when towing? Why are you racing a loaded truck and trailer ?

That wasn't one of the options he gave in his question. You don't want to answer his question because it will disprove your prior statement that HP is HP.

Facts are facts. Two engines can have the same rated horsepower, and vastly different rated torque figures. The engine with the higher torque figures will do a better job of towing.

Or is your goal to help get another thread on the topic of diesels closed?

AFM is horrible. We have a fleet of 2013 and new GM 1/2 tons. Well over 75. Half use oil like crazy and half of those have had bearings, pistons, rings, ect replaced. We have no issues out of our 10 or so non AFM 5.0 F150's.

Chris

Thank Chris. Thats why my current truck has a 4.8 - no AFM. Next one will be a 2500HD gas, no AFM in the HD series. I keep my truck untill the cross 200,000 miles, so dependability is huge for me.

I could buy new and switch the afm off, but would that cure it?

Do you have any Ford F250 4x4 6.2 gas in your work fleet? How are they? MPG?

Still swaying HD gasser.-

Since we are all having fun:

2014 Ram 2500 Megacab w/6.4L gas motor. About 7500 lbs. 20k average MPG is 13.1 hand calculated...mixed driving and speed. On a good day all highway at 65-70 I might be able to see 16.5. Towing and it drops way off. Love the truck and am happy with the performance given the weight.

No, we don't have anything gas bigger than a 1/2 ton. We also don't have any 3/4 tons. Closest is 1 ton SRW.

Our fleet currents is about 250 trucks. Oldest is 2011. Most are GM.

GM trucks:

75 or so 1/2 tons. All 4x4 5.3L
25 or do 3500 SRW Dmax 4x4.
40 or so Colorado's. Not sure on the motor. Most 2 wheel drive

Ford trucks:

12 or so F150's. All 5.0 4x4
10 or so F350 dually diesel 4x4
50 or so F450 and F550. All diesel 4X4

Dodges:

2 5500 Cummins 4X4
6 or so 1/2 tin Eco Diesels all 4x4

The rest of the stuff is big trucks like dump trucks and Semi's

That's spot on for a gas 3/4 ton truck.

Compare the wide flat torque curve of 1000's of rpms with the 5.3 and the 6.2 vs the narrow 100's of rpms torque curve of the Duramax.

Not being personal but where do you work that you run that many trucks. And yes I know you don't run them all

Its off that much? I have never had a vehicle of any brand off more than .5 mpg. 6 mpg off is crazy!Chris

No, not that much. The computer averages over time and hand calculated is between tank fills. I track my 2013 RAM's mileage (gas), the delta, over a one year period between hand calculated and the EVIC is 0.84 MPG, the EVIC reading higher. I haven't had my 2015 3500 diesel long enough to calculate an accurate delta because I have to differentiate between towing and normal driving but looking at the data casually, it looks to be about the same.

When calculating fuel mileage is the accuracy of the odometer ever in question?
