Last season my PTO locked up, ripped out my wiring harness and the torque plate. I just put it back together this weekend.

Fired it up and put it into gear and there is a loud racket that sounds like bb's in a blender.

It goes into gear and seems to move. It is up on jack stands.

Any thoughts on what this noise might be?

Thanks...

My first thought would be to double check the PTO adjustments. You should have .020-.025 clearance between the disk and rotor all the way around when disengaged. Does it sound the same engaged or disengaged? Does it disengage correctly?

I just put a new PTO on it. It did it with the last PTO on it also.

It only does it when I disengage the brake and start to move. Sometimes it will do it when idling with the brake off. As soon as I come up to speed it goes away.

the topic is where i am today, on my 3184 it has a bellows that puts pressure on the 2 pto belts but I have a problem the front belt comes off the double pulley.i removed the heat shield and the top belt guard to get at the the belts, i removed the front belt from the pulley and all is well I just need to know a remedy on keeping the front belt from getting thrown off and chewed up or should I just keep cutting using the rear pulley groved belt?
