155D power steering

Hello everyone,
I am looking at picking up a YM155D from a friend of mine. The tractor is in good shape, and comes with a belly mower and an extra set of turf tires (not mounted on rims). My question is regarding power steering. The tractor has power steering, but i have not seen any pictures online of a setup. Does anyone have any info if this was an option from Yanmar or if this is someone's add on? I haven't picked the tractor up yet. When i get it i know i will have a bunch of questions. Thanks for the help.

Interesting. I have two different repair manuals on the 155. Neither mention power steering. I know the Hoye kit will not fit the 155. Is this a cylinder type power steering such as this? I will be interested to hear your conclusion.

Winston, Yes the diagram is almost an exact match to the setup on the tractor. Thanks. My friend bought the tractor from its 2nd owner. the first and second owners were christmas tree farm owners and the 155D was a perfect fit for mowing between rows of christmas trees.

The tractor is to small for my friends use and has offered me first opportunity to buy it. I dont know how useful it will be, but i will find out once the WI winter breaks.

I have the kit described by Winston on my (second) YM186D. Reading what I can find about it, it was a US dealer option back in the day - 1980's. The (Canadian??) supplier is now unknown and OEM components unavailable.

Different kits were sold for the various Yanmars. I expect they used the same hydraulic cylinder and the difference was different length steering links. The kit also included special fittings to get hydraulic fluid at a regulated pressure.

The steering kit seems to be maintainable using ordinary generic o-rings, hose fittings, etc.

You will love it! I love mine, it makes the tractor a lot more maneuverable.

Added: More recently there was a similar kit made in Turkey and available for Yanmar as well as other brands that are sold worldwide - MF etc. I think Hoye recently closed out a batch of them. I don't know if new kits for Yanmar are available anywhere presently but they may turn up on Ebay etc.
