I am a newbie!!!!!! I love tractors!!!
I recently had a leak on my MF 1552 My dealer was wonderful in the help that they provided. My loader is a mf 1530
My question, to any one that can help is this. After repairing the leak my fel will not go UP but, about half way. I am afraid, I have crossed the line to my joy stick manifold. I have put 10 gallons of hydraulic oil in. Is that enough.
Thanks for any help.:)

If you crossed a line your loader would work in reverse (ie, up would be down etc..). I'm not familiar with your tractor but there should be a dipstick, sight glass, or some way to check the fluid level. If the fluid level is good my guess is you have air in the system, which if you work the loader controls, it should work its way out.
Typically the dealer would have filled the hydraulic fluid after the repair was done. Actually I guess I should ask what kind of leak was repaired in order to determine the effects on the hydraulic system. You might also post this in the MF forum if you can't get it working!

Erick,
Thanks, for your help I really appreciate it, as I am very new at this.
I have read, and re- read the manual, and can not find the dip stick for hydraulics. I did find a sight glass to the rear of tractor but, can't tell much about it.
All of the other hydraulics work fine except the fel will not go all the way up.
Thanks again, I REALLY do appreciate your help.

Ray,

The sightglass you found at the rear of the tractor indicates the level of your hydraulic oil. I've found that on my 1455v the level of the oil in the sightglass will vary depending on whether my FEL and T&T cylinders are extended or retracted.
I'm guessing that you had a leak in the FEL control valve and had to replace O-rings?
On my 1040 loader there is a main input line on one side and a return line on the other, with four smaller lines on the underside of the valve going to the FEL cylinders. I had to replace O-rings a few weeks ago and took time to label these hoses when I removed them. It might help for you to visit your dealer and inspect the hose hookups on a FEL to be sure yours is correct.
BTW, my O-ring replacement stopped the leak and all was fine until yesterday. The bucket suddenly stopped curling, and the joystick is "slack" for that function. The valvestem on that side isn't spring loaded any more so I guess a spring is broken? I'll look at it today as we have a forecast for rain.

Glenn,
Thanks, for your help.My tractor is new but I had a problem with a ferrel nut on the joy stick manifold I replaaced the nut, and had to remove the lines to do so. Thank you, very much, for your suggestions I REALLY do appreciate them

I guess I was lucky with mine. Since my last post I went out and removed the FEL control valve and after taking it apart and finding no damage it seems that a steel collar over the return spring had somehow jammed or caught the spring and kept it compressed. Reassembled and reinstalled; now everything's working properly again.

Are you certain that your problem isn't just air in the oil lines? I would think that if the loader will raise partially with normal joystick operation nothing in the valve would limit oil flow causing a limited lift? In other words, are your joystick functions to raise, lower, curl, and empty the bucket working as they should, other than the bucket not raising to full height? If so, your lines are OK.

After changing hyd oil/filter I've had to run all cylinders through their complete range of motion to clear air and make the loader work properly. For some reason (unknown to me) nothing hydraulic responded properly until I raised and lowered my 3pt hitch a few times.

Check your sight glass and be sure you have enough oil, and then try going through the motions with your rear lift, any other cylinders off your remotes if any, and then your FEL cylinders. Hope it's just air.

Glen9643,
I have just returned from my property where I keep my tractor.
I tried ALL the things that you suggested. Nothing worked.
I ran the hydraulics, through all the cycles several times. Nothing, evey thing works fine except the loader reaching its full height.
I am going to call the dealer in the morning . In the mean time, I so very much appreciate your help. Maybe I can return the favor one day.
Thanks again
Ray

I've just finished reading through your posts; you posted three different threads related to your hydraulic leak at the loader control panel, but haven't updated any of them to let readers know what the problem was.

It would be helpful if you provided a little more personal information about yourself/location/property as well as post followup information when you ask for help to repair a problem. Readers might have a similar problem, and if you take time to post what your problem actually was it may benefit someone else.

Glenn9643,
You are absolutely right. Please, accept my sincerest apology.
I had replaced a union, on my hydraulic manifold, and I failed to fully engage my quick disconnect on one of the lines. It was not leaking oil but, it was not fully in place and therefore not working properly.
Again, Thanks for your help, and everyone that offered help.
And again PLEASE accept my sincerest apo
tensaw12logy.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't anything major and everything's OK.
