Ford 1510. Fan behind radiator not turning. Engine is overheating. Do I need to tighten the belt or is the fan assembly done and need replacing? Thanks!

The fan and water pump are integral and driven by the same belt, so if it isn't turning you definitely need to find out why. If the belt is snug and it still won't turn, chances are the bearings have gone out and seized it up. Normally that will take out the ceramic seal and cause it to leak as well.

Thanks for that. It’s barely turning. I can force it by hand. Is the solution to replace the water pump?

That's the usual practice for cars and trucks, with equipment you may be able to get a rebuild kit and replace the internals. A remanufactured one will usually require that you swap over the existing fan and pulley.
