Does the 1500D transmission have synchronizers? There's a little "crunch" when putting it into gear with the clutch pedal depressed, normal?

Thanks

sounds like the clutch is not disengaging completely.

Thanks,
Bruce

I believe you will find that these little tactors don't have a synchronized tranny. Well, you can't have everything, they are still very good and worth every penny we paid for them.

Bruce,

Is there an adjustment I can look for other than the clutch pedal adjustment? I have the clutch pedal rod adjusted out to it's outer limit so that it pushes to it's furthest capabilities. Would replacing the clutch solve this, if so anyone know how difficult it would be?

thanks,
sean

Sean,If you have your clutch adjusted correctly you should have about 1 inch of travel before you feel any resistance when depressing clutch.Adjusting the linkage out any further won't help it release any better and can damage release brg.Although not syncronized,if you depress clutch and stop tractor, you should be able to shift without grinding. If not ,springs are probably broken on pressure plate.Fairly common problem.Tractor will have to be split to replace clutch, but its not that bad and you'll learn a lot about your tractor.

Before I put this thing back together I figured I would check with you guys to make sure I was doing it right. I must admit, I wasn't paying 100% attention when I finally got the clutch off (about 11pm). Anyway, does the raised center part of the clutch goes towards the engine like I have it, or towards the pressure plate. I think it's in there right but I wanted to check first.

This is what the pressure plate looked like when I pulled it off. I think the mechanism was rusted so much it wouldn't work?

Another one of the pressure plate. Check out the wear on the fingers. Is this indicative of a failed throw out bearing?

New pressure plate. I am going to have the new bearing pressed off/ on tomorrow. I'm aauming those springs attach to the clutch pedal mechanism, they were already dangling when I got the tractor split.

Sean, you need to flip disc over. The raised side goes toward pressure plate. You can use driveshaft to align disc and then tighten bolts. Those springs can be hooked and then pull bearing up over fork. Then slide driveshaft thru bearing and into coupling on trans. If coupling stayed on shaft, pull it off and put on trans because it won't go thru bearing.Sometimes the bearing will try to slip off forks when you are putting tractor back together,so keep an eye on it until shaft starts into pressure plate.Good Luck and take care. These tractors may be small, but they can still hurt you.

Success! Well putting it together anyway. I had already figured out the disc arrangement yesterday morning, but your advice on the shaft was right on! Thanks for the help. Once I got the bearing and shaft all together and lined up it went together nice and smooth. I figure the next one will take me 1/4 the time, but it was a great learning experience. I should probably have the whole tractor back together tomorrow night.

Regards
