1500D PTO

I gather from reading the parts manual that my 1500 has a 3-speed PTO. However, I have been able to engage only one speed, with the lever pushed down and (I think) back. Am I missing something or is there a problem somewhere?

Reb,

Your pto lever should be on the lower left hand side of your operating area, and your fwd lever is also on the left side. The pto control is the one closest to your fender, and should have five positions....all the way down toward the floor area is 540.....click up....neutral....up again....760....up again...neutral...up again....1000. You will use 540 most of the time for american implements. I'm certain that there is a neutral between 540 and 760....and mostly sure that there is a neutral between 760 and 1000.

I have a Y1500 not the D but my PTO lever is on the left also. There are 3 speeds, 1 is back ( I use this with my bush hog) 2 is forward ( I don't use this) 3 is down and forward( I use this with my RS1200 tiller). I may have the direction of 1 and 2 backwards but they are definately in the same plane.
