135D diesal question

There is a tube that comes from the engine and hangs behind the right front tire. With the engine running there is a white smoke coming out. It doesn't seem to be oil or get hot. Is this normal and where is it coming from?

It sounds very much like water/condensation in the fuel system and entering the combustion chamber. If you replace the fuel, change filter and the symptoms stop then that was your problem.

It the symptoms persist, it may be a very small leak from your head gasket. It may stay the same for awhile or worsen, but it won't get better.

It's a draft tube. The majority of diesel engines do not have sealed crankcases like automotive gas engine do (PVC valve systems). The draft tube is what is used to prevent the crankcase from pressurizing and blowing out seals. Any combustion gas that get's past the rings is vented out of the draft tube. The smoke you are seeing is most likely exhaust smoke, if you give it a sniff it will probably smell like diesel fuel.

That very well could be.

A sure fire way to determine the difference would be to extend the breather tube end to a glass jar. It moisture builds while running for several minutes, then it's water vapor...if not, it may be as you've stated above.

It is normal if it is not excessive. There could be water vapor in it even without a coolant leak since on of the by products of combustion is water,
