Ok i have a 135 Diesel that just barely started then stopped abruptly. I pulled the starter and i can turn it over about 1/8th of a turn then it stops and i can go back the other way 1/8. I pulled the valve cover first and saw nothing awry. I then pulled the head. Still nothing. I pulled the sump and still nothing. No metal in the bottom either. Any ideas where to go next? I appreciate any advice I can get. Oh the alternator / fan turn freely as well.

To the TBN forum. Glad that you joined but sorry to hear that you are having trouble.

Is anything attached to the PTO? Can you turn the PTO?

Was the clutch done ? Lockingplates reinstalled ?

Ok no clutch work done and nothing hooked to the pto and it turns freely with my hand. I had my wife push the clutch down and with it down i can turn the engine over.

Can you turn the engine with the clutch down? You haven't the classic MF fun of getting it in to two gears at once?

Ok ! When opening the gearboxfillerhole there should be a squer lockbolt right in the middle of that hole . If not .....lever it just a little to get it in the middle. If it is in the middle....look down into the hole...you will see a big gear on the clutchside to the front...shift that gear to the middle of it's travel to get neutral.

Ok Which one is the gearbox filler hole? I just tried again and as soon as you feel some resistance in the clutch i can turn the engine over. In the top 1/3rd of travel i'd say. That and the fact that i was able to roll the tractor with my trucks help tells me its not stuck in a gear. I think?
