my next mod is to install a cigar lighter on the Pt so I can plug in my warning light for snow plowing, my solar battery tender, and air compressor. I need to find a good weatherproof enclosure or outlet that will survive

My suggestion is to look at marine/boating equipment sites... you should be able to find an inexpensive one.

I put one in the engine compartment to plug my battery charger into. It was plastic and did not survive. So, I would be interested in what you find.

I had one like picture #2 there. The ears snapped off pretty quickly.
Good feedback! I kind of like the first one. Maybe add it to "control" panel where the throttle and switches are located. You'd have to drill a hole but it would be a nice "clean" installation and be fairly protected. Of course you'd have to deal with running the wiring to the engine bay... If that isn't acceptable, you could make a small metal bracket to hold it and add it somewhere back near the battery (or just buy a more expensive, heavier duty one :) ).

On my 2001 model PT425 I put it under the thick metal arched support for the gas tank on the left side of the engine bay. When I'd back in for the night, I'd lift the hood and plug in my trickle charger. It worked well for a while, but then one day the ears just snapped off. I figure it was not meant for high temperature areas. So, looking at one of the links provided above, i saw one made of stainless steel. That might work better for me.

Or, as you mentioned just run wires up through the tunnel and mount it on the dash, or maybe the side of the dash column somewhere would work well. I made a light bar for the underside of my canopy and fastened two lights under there so that I did not have bolts sticking up through the canopy top. I have a switchbox with four lit switches that I was going to put up there as well some day. Perhaps a lighter socket up there would be a good place for a magnetic mount rotating beacon to plug in and keep the wires out of the way.

Hmmmm.... too many projects and not enough time!

I put my power point on the rops under the canopy, I have my light switch for the top lights there also. I have my fire extinguisher on the same leg of the rops also.

I have three. One in front for a 55 gallon sprayer that I carry on the forks. Two are in the rear where I pull an ABI Arena Rascal drag with an electric actuator control. Also use them to run a small 12 DV water pump for priming a water siphon line for a pond and also for a winch.

I don't use the large rigid connectors shown here. I use the small plug together pig-tail type. They don't need to be mounted and when not in use can be tucked aside.

I control them with two double throw toggle switches on the dash.

I bought one like this at Wal-Fart and put it on a donorcycle two years ago.
I ride exclusively back-roads, dirt roads, and trails. That little 12v plug has been rained on, dunked, dusted, mudded, power washed, etc. and still works fine. It appears mostly weather proof. Never had an issue with it. It's still on the bike waiting for the next great adventure. It should hold up to to Power-Trac use.
