Just replaced a defective suction line. Upon removal, I naturally lost a lot of fluid (about 2 gallons or so). When I tried to fill up the hydraulic tank it would only take about half a pint before overflowing.
I'm assuming that I have air in the system somewhere, so is there a valve somewhere I have open a valve somewhere to allow more fluid in. I have a manual which discusses hydraulics but this topic. Also do I have to bleed or is it self bleeding. Thanks in advance

Your hyd should be self bleeding as you use them.

Run the hyd system to remove all the air, and then check the lever again.

Hi J.J. thanks for the reply, but my problem remains.
I ran the engine which I assumed runs the hydraulic pump, but this made no difference. Have I misunderstood what your saying ?
I should add, I was trying to put fluid in the hyd tank under the bonnet of the tractor, but its full.
DSC00917.jpg I have since read that the transmission housing and rear axle center housing serve as a common oil reservoir for the hydraulic system, so should i be filling the fluid from this end. There is a dipstick located beneath the seat of the tractor, is this for the hydraulic reservoir.

Hi Again J.J.
being my first tractor, I'm short on experience, but I think I have realised my error.
I did n't realise there are two reservoirs and I have been trying to fill up the power steering reservoir instead of the transmission reservoir. ! Would that be correct?
cheers Grevious

Your hyd reservoir is usually at the back. Either dipstick or sight glass for checking.

The tank up front might be the steering hyd fluid.
