Is it normal to hear a clacking noise while moving around in high range? The tractor has 3 ranges, and whenever I want to scoot across the yard in 3rd range, i hear an annoying clacking in the transmission. The tractor pulls just fine though.

And... whenever I take it out of gear up top, but leave the range selector in high range, it wants to pull forward slightly when i let out on the clutch.

And... If i cut the tractor off while the tractor is in high range, as soon as the enging quits turning, the whole tractor shakes pretty bad the last bit.

is this a problem, should i worry as long as it is still moving?

Thanks to all

My 1110D, and the one I sold a few months ago didn't make any clacking noises in the tranny. Are you sure it's coming from the tranny? I did notice that in high (3rd) range, the tranny does whine a little, and wants to move the tractor a bit with the clutch out and the powershift ("up top") in N.

If the sound is actually coming from the transimission, then it could be a damaged high range gear. As for the shaking when shutting down, it shouldn't be any different in high range versus the others. These two cylinder engines do shake quite a bit on shutdown. I happened to read on the Kubota forum that the BX1500 (a two cylinder) shakes pretty bad on shutdown too.

It seems to do this more when idling around. When I get into a pull, or go up a hill it quitens down considerably.

But on my flat driveway, it is noticable. Is it worth a teardown, or should i just avoid high range, or drive it till it quits? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, I'm at a bit of a loss. I don't know what to tell you. I guess it could be a worn bearing in the tranny that when lightly loaded allows enough slop to make noise, then under load it tightens up. But this usually ends up making a lot of whining noise rather than clacking (I think...).

This sounds more like a general tractor problem that maybe someone else has some better insight into.

i have a 1820d and i have found that when i shut it off with the top lever in neutral and the range in gear it tries to make a lunge i figured it was the nature of it and i think i would pull the 4 wd box at the bottom and take a look at the gears i know that the 4wd box is aggrevating to get off and on but might save you some more damage in the gear box. Look for any chunks of material that is in the bottom of the 4wd box
