I think the name of the company that manufactures the skid plate and the stabilizer guards for the 110 is called GR Manufacturing. I had both on my 110 and they were built very well, the company also makes skid plates for dozers and other equipment as well. As far as thumb goes I know Deere sells one but it is actually made by a company called Weldco Beales, they also make the quick coupler for the hoe. They have a web site, I believe it is www.weldcobeales.com, and they will sell direct to you, so you may be able to save some bucks there. Hope this helps.

I actually sold my 110 from advertising through the classifieds here, and I didn't sell it because it wasn't a good machine, it is a GREAT machine, I just needed something that was more stable on slopes, and that I could use when it gets wet out, so I am in the process of purchasing a Cat 287 multi terrain loader. A very neat machine and a total 180 degree turn from the 110.

The ones I got for my baby Deere (4210) were part of the
"rental" package that dealers can order for units destined
for the rental yards.

Like you, I found this on JD's website once and never again.

There website uses all kinds of hi fangled nonsense that
doesn't work about half the time and takes forever to load.
I've never had so much trouble with a website. And yes
I'm using an older browser that can't see POPUPS and other
crap, and yes I'm using a modem but I use lots of websites
with little discomfort.

Give me a simple html page with the gol danged info on the
implements and I might buy something else!

Simple html pages and simple links to pics and info are
SO easy to do, and quick loading for us living in
East Mud Hole, Washington.

One dealer somewhere in the Midwest actually did this, I can't
remember where I saw it but they culled all the facts about
the implements and listed them.

You just click on 4210 or whatever, and then on box blade or
whatever, and a simple HTML page comes up in 2 seconds and
you have the weights, features. Like a mini JD site done
by humans, not overpriced web "designers" that are trying to
justify their existence.

Government agencies like hiring these toads as well. Wife's
computer has latest versions of everything, just upgraded
it with "Flash 6" or something and hit a website that wanted
Flash 7 or you couldn't (AS USUAL) even get a phone number
for the company.

And don't be surprise if your dealer stares at you as well.
My 3 local dealers went blank when I said "skid plates".
The one that tried couldn't bring up ANYTHING on Deere's
website, but I DID see it once!

I remember you talking about the excavator being more productive... I was hunting for an update. Congrads on selling the 110! I await your review on the 287. There's one at our local dealer and it's a beaut! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have installed several of the 110 skid plates and they are very good quality, although they arnt the easiest to remove/install.

Also WainRoy makes a nice thumb for the 110. Its the only one we install. There are some serious fitmant issues with the deere thumb!!

Was thinking about a thumb. Who is WainRoy? Where are they located, do they have a website? What is the cost of their unit? Any info appreciated. Thanks

WainRoy is manufactured by Woods. I'm not to sure about cost, but I can find out for you. I'll take a pic of one I installed also.

Finally some 110 talk. Actually the 110 and I hibernated all winter. Wain Roy made the thumb on my old International bh and that was a mid 60's machine. I think they are now part of the Woods family of equipment. I still want to put a thumb on mine. Can't use the JD though, I don't have the quick connect bucket which you must have .I was told this after I bought it. My dealer gave me a brochure of "Bear Claw Thumbs"
Hydraulic version, made by MC Faulkner and Sons, Inc. The brochure doesn't say where they are from, but I think maybe Maine. Dealer said about a $1,000.00 but I would bet it's probably more , especially with the installation. There's no tel. no. I suspect you have to buy through a dealer. I would be interested to know more about that Wain Roy, because that was one fine thumb.
We didn't get any snow up here in Maine just lots of artic air. I'll take the snow anyday. Think Spring Please

Adieu, Joe

Try the thumb from mcfaulkner and sons is over 2000 they claim it is b/c of the high steel prices. Heck there is only 100 pounds of steel in it how is that possible. I guess it is titanium or something. I plan on just making one.

Here is a pic of the WainRoy thumb, I'm still unsure on the price but I'll find out soon.

Ouch! on the price of a Faulkner thumb. J D
Tech, do you have any prices on the
Wain Roy thumb yet? I will check with my dealer on a price for the Faulkner thumb. Maybe it's a nice dealer mark up! I think I can get one fabricated for less money. There's not much to a hydraulic thumb that I can see.
