1025r help

Ok, just accepted delivery on a 1025r. The black connector for the mid mount mower does not connect without using a board for leverage. This cannot be right, anyone else have this issue and have any suggestions


Hope I can become a happy green guy but right now my pinky is sore from slamming into the deck ..Out in puffy red fashion..

Do I call JD or is there a solution

Adjust the front bar nuts to loosen it up a little or try parking on a level concrete surface. If you get it too loose it won't lock in place.

This black connector you are fighting,,,, are you talking about the PTO shaft from the deck to the tractor? If so, isn't there a spring loaded collar on the end? It needs to be pulled toward the deck about an inch where it will lock in place and then the shaft will slide onto the tractor end easily. Putting the PTO selector to the rear only position will make it easier also.

Ok spoke with JD today. The black line I was referring too was the hydraulic line to enable the deck to move up and down. What they told me to do was to compress the male piston on the connector to relive the pressure in t he line before coupling. I did it with a rag as instructed and a board and wala it connected seamlessly..

Note: they were very specific not to use my hand as if hydraulic liquid gets below the skin it needs to be surgically removed. When the piston is compressed it does shoot fluid as it is compressed but honestly this was not a big deal ..... I am now a happy green guy!!!!!!
