Are you looking new, used?

You have a lot of selection in that range.Do you want another utility frame tractor or larger "row crop" frame? More information would help.

My neighbor has a 6605 which is a newer equal to the 3155 you have. It's 8 years old and has had 3700 hours on it, been a great tractor. I have put probably 1200 of the hours on it myself. It has the same engine as a 7000 series, but in the large utility frame. It's right around 100 Hp.

If new then it would be a 6D series, the 6100D is around 100Hp or the 6115D is around 115 hp.

You can get lots of information at Deere.com including a retail price with options.

I have a 7130 Premium that has been a very good tractor.

What series are you thinking? Your between a 5000 and 6000 series - main difference is frame size along with a couple features here and there. Your jobs will determine the series - what do you plan on using it for?

We have a 7330 and 7420 both very nice tractors it just depends on what you want to use them for .... we do row crop every thing from working ground to planting and pulling loads use them 2 more than the other tractors we have.

The german 50 series that are your 55 series were some of the best efforts deere produced unlike some of the lower model 7000 series like 7200 7400 the larger tractors in that series like the 7810 and up like 8000 were again notoriously good . If you must stay with the green the european 6000 series are the best in your size.
I'm no deere lover but i think your 3155 is as good as the green ever got ..how bad can it be ..spend some money on it :)
any green owner i know says series improved through 30-40-50-55- then 00-10 .... 20 was bad 30 got worse now they all buying MF or NH ..LOL:)

My experience is that the hyd systems on the 50/55 series Mannheim built tractors are nowhere near as dependable as the Waterloo rowcrop tractors. Granted some later model RC tractors aren't built in Waterloo.

I believe the 5M series deserves a look. Available up to 105hp. (5105M) I had a NH 7610S before I bought the 5085M. The 5M is physically a little smaller, but will do the same work, and it's a lot more manuerverable.

You are right hyd problems on 50 series and engine problems with smaller waterloo's take your pick .

Looked at a used 6420, an a 7130 at the dealer yesterday cant stand all the plastic on these tractors now days. plastic shouldn.t be on a tractor an all the freaking computerize crap more things to break an fix. Why can't they be built to last.

On Mannheim built tractors the rockshaft valves tend to have more o-ring failures than the Waterloo built models. Also the hyd pto & hyd hi-lo supply tubes have a history of o-ring &/or tube failure. In my experience as a retired JD dealer service manager the utility type tractors were more difficult to diagnose/repair hyd problems than the rowcrop tractors. I also think the hi-lo & hyd pto clutches on utilities gave more problems than the rowcrops.

Are you looking for new (newer?) or used. Personally, I like the older 40 series Deere's. Simply light years ahead of their competition from that era. (Especially the 4440) Looking real hard at a low hour 4450MFWD at the moment. I've got 3 6430 Premiums (2007 and 2008) and have nothing but praise for them Bought two Masseys in same size range and wish I wouldn't have. They just don't hold up to the hard use like the Deere's do, not to mention the rather substantial drop off in worth after a couple seasons. We demo-ed a couple NH's this fall, and crossed them off the list. Operators just didn't care for them. We demo-ed a couple Challengers too, but since they're essentially a Massey (albeit with a slightly better service contract available to us) they didn't stay on the list very long.

I've had a history with MF's and still like their older tractors (under 100hp) but have had such good luck with the Deere's, I'm beginning to see just one brand as an option. No decent CaseIH dealers in this area, so they're out of the question.

It's not uncommon for us to put as many hours on a tractor in 2 or 3 seasons as is typical of a farm tractor in 10 or 15 years, It's very critical to get a unit that has a long life expectancy. (and a good resale value once it has high hours) No one has been able to stand along side of Deere in that regard.

Adding a pair of 6170R's to the mowing fleet this coming year (140pto hp) (will be pulling 20' bat wing mowers) I'll be able to comment more on them in a few months.

tx jm i have seen the o ring failures before ,but did not realize it to be a big problem. most of my experience is with row crop tractors.fmj ,i like older masseys under 100 hp too.what kind of problems did you have with the new ones? the state of alabama sold off about a 25 5465 mf last year .the tractors were low hour between 500 and 1500 hours.about 10 of them were listed as bad engine or transmission.they had a lot of electrical problems.

Not sure what you mean here because the 7200, 7400, 7210, 7410 are all great tractors.

No significant difference between them and a 7810.

Sorry I don't understand your question. I have zero experience with Massey's or JD 5465's. I don't like the newer JD electronic/plastic model tractors. In general Dubuque/Mannheim tractors gave more hyd problems than Waterloo built tractors at least up to the mid 90 models.
