I grew up in northern Illinois in the town of DeKalb. It is corn country up there. Each year they had there annual corn boil where they would bring in a couple of the old steam tractors and plumb them into horse troughs. Then thousands of ears of corn would be boiled and given out to those at the festival. It was really something to be around that old iron when you were a kid.

I don't know if you ever get back to Dekalb, but Cornfest is alive and well. They still bring a steamer out to do the corn boil. Dekalb/Sycamore is very lucky as the annual steam show there is a true steam show and is a very good show, last year I think they had 27 steam engines.
