'07 B series rumor mill?

You can get by without position control on your 3ph for most tasks, including mowing. But for 3ph box blade grading it would be highly desirable, if not essentially necessary to have position control. Now, if you're going to do plowing you need draft control, which is a whole new story.

All about 3-point lift types. Go to website, click on info, then click 3-point lift types.

I second this, really for most people it does not matter. Its just the few that are going to be doing grading takes that benifit from the position control - and you really should have a larger tractor to be doing those things anyway, thus why its offered on the bigger machines.

Thanks for clarifying that...

Hmmm so for grading my 350 foot gravel driveway this valve would actually suck. Now that I'm leaning back towards the BX24 what kind of valve does it have??

Wayne touched on a very good point with the hills comment. I am currently grading the back portion of my yard and am planning on making a set of guage wheels for my BB that extend a few back from the box. I believe that this techinque would probably produce the best finish for grading a driveway or anything else.

So no one has heard of a B7810 in the works?

I disagree. Position control is very helpful with mowing operations too. When using a bush hog there are times you need to lift the hog over an obstacle or lift it in a bumpy section to prevent scalping. Having position control allows quick and precise readjustments. You can set a thumb screw to the optimal lowered position and not even need to look at the setting to return to the same place. Having position control also means that if you determine that a certain cutting height is optimal for your acreage that you can set the precise position control setting immediately and start cutting.

A quarter inch valve has no advantages and is simply a PITA for the user. Kubota should have replaced them years ago and only shortsighted marketing considerations prevent them from doing so. It's silly really because while they have "protected" their upscale models by keeping the base B series hampered with the quarter inching valve technology, competitors to the B series have incorporated position control and have benefited. Once the Kioti salesman shows you that their CKs do everything the B series does they then show you all the things the CKs have standard that the B's don't have. Kubota could easily have added those features and by not doing so they allow the other companies to gain a toehold in the market.

Well said island, well said.

Let me just remind you that the B7800:

1. is selling EXTREMELY well for KCC;
2. has only been in the model lineup since 2003/4 so it's far from coming off the shelf from a marketing perspective.

This model convinces lugs (like me) that they have gotten something for nothing or cheaper .... that will ALWAYS move product IMHO. The MX5000, the B7800, the TC30, the JD770 and JD990 are excellent sellers.

(For those not familiar, all of the above models are 'no frills', economy class machines missing most bells and whistles).

The B7800 was around in 2003 when I bought my B2410. I considered it when I bought mine.

Relative to the position control, I strongly disagree with those that would maintain it is not necessary for this size tractor. I use mine all the time, including with my 3 point snowblower. I blow part of my yard to park my snowmobile trailer, and PC makes it very, very easy. I would NEVER own a tractor with a 3 point hitch that didn't have PC. I've often considered what would happen if my tractor was stolen or burned up in some type of house fire. As much as I've enjoyed my Kubota, without the availability of PC on the B7610, or similar size, another manufacturer would certainly be getting my money.

I agree that PC would be a must have option if I bought a new tractor again. As much as I like my B3030 I would not own it if it did not have PC. IMHO, maybe the reason some folks don't think PC is important is because they have never used a tractor that has it. With the reputation Kubota has for quality and value I just don't understand why they don't make PC standard on all of the B series tractors. To me, it is not an added bell or whistle, it should be an important standard feature.

I'd say well over half the people who buy tractors in this size never use the 3pt hitch. I know you guys do, The TBN tractor owner is not typical or reflective of the market as a whole.
