Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help me. My tractor shifted gears and drove good. I bought it used and had it for a year with no issues. Since I bought it used I thought it would be a good idea to change the fluids. I decided to change the hyd/trans fluid first and when I did it was milky...
Just got a Ford New Holland 1715 Hydraulics don't so squat! Moved a tad when the owner was showing me but very slow, now nothing. So I noticed the fluid was over filled and milky. So that's water for sure as he never covered the tractor it sat out in all types of weather.
Also it needs a clutch...
Recently acquired an old 715, but the PTO shaft output splines have seen some better days. The part (PTO shaft, 590.43159) is no longer available. Anyone have one they don't need?
Hi all, Anyone know what is involved in replacing the seal in this bugger. Does the shaft just slide out to get to the seal or is it more involved. The 1520 and 1320 should be the same if you own one of them. Thanks up front for any info.
I am looking f or a PTO shaft for the tiller. Part # 52448404. This is a 1984 model tiller and the best price I can find is $150 for the shaft. Any help for used or better pricing?
\Hi all,
I'm new here, asking questions. My husband of 44 years just died - taking all of his knowledge with him. I need to keep my tractor running so I'm hoping I can rely on ya'll and pick your brains. I've been reading here off and on over the last decade and your membership seems very...
Hi all,
Continuing the reassembly of my 1715 after a crazy few months with clutch replacement and came to the instrument panel wiring harness and noticed that a blue connector was just hanging loose. Odd thing was it had a jumper wire connected to one of the contacts but just hanging loose on...
To summarize.. I bought tractor from original owner, and the wiring is a mess. I suppose the previous owner lost the key, because he tucked the ignition switch behind the dash and just hooked up a push button... Prior to installing, the glow plugs, warning lights and everything...
Hi all,
I've just got back to working on my 1715 tractor after about 6 months of sitting. I had to replace the thrust bearing and since i was splitting the tractor I had the whole clutch sent out and rebuilt also last spring. Anyway I bolted up the tractor again and decided to check operation...
This may be a bit lengthy, so please bare with me. My 97 NH 1715 is having starting problems. About two years ago I went out to start it at an idle and it would not start. It seemed to be laboring because of the battery so I replaced the battery. It still would not start, just turning over...
I have been researching tractors for almost a year now and the tbn forum has been a big contributor. I finally have the ability to make a purchase. :cool2: I have come across a '97 New Holland 1715 4x4 with 1,296 hrs. No FEL. I haven't seen it in person yet. It looks pretty good in the pictures...

Hello to everyone,
I have an issue with my compact tractor, when I am in gear and going the tractor is struggling to make it up an even small incline, I have to sometimes go backwards and get a running start to make it up. It is even worse when I have the disc or anything heavy on the back and...
I posted this about a week ago, so will try again. Last fall I went to start my old dependable 1715 and it would not start. Changed the fuel filter, checked all the bleed vlaves, and checked the resistance on my glow plugs. All was OK, so I put on the battery charger and went back an hour...
:eek:Last fall I my always dependable tractor would not start. My neighbor and I finally got it started by pumping it manually and then keep the throttle high and back it down slowly over about 20 seconds. I then ran fine, but then each time I started it it had to be at a high idle and then...
I have a new holland 1715 tractor and I can hook my spreaders up to my pto and it works for a couple of minutes but these it stops working but when I hook my bush hog to it it wont turn the blades or do anything its like the pto is slipping off and I need some help on what may be wrong
I know the subject has been discussed before but I'm still not sure what parts need to be replaced. I have been removing the cover to get it unstuck but would like to go ahead and fix whatever is causing the problem. If anyone has done this repair on a NH 1715 what parts did you replace?

I've got a model 1715. There's nothing that I can see to keep the lower lift arms fixed and straight behind the tractor when pulling my finishing mower. As a result the mower slides side to side in a turn and the bolts on the arms and the arms themselves hit the rear tires.
Am I missing an...
Hey NH guys...
I have been looking at a 1715 tractor at my JD dealer. I am looking for a secondary machine for finish mowing and tilling. I remember back in the late 90's when this machine was made that it is a gear tractor with a tranny driven (?) PTO??? Is this correct and do you all have...
This is my first post, but I'm a long time lurker. I bought this tractor used in 2003 and it's run great until recently. I estimate the hours at around 1500, but who knows, the hour meter was changed at one point. It only reads 370hrs now. The dealer who changed it said it had around 800hrs...
My mechanic suggests I need to replace my hydraulic pump and my power steering cylinder. The total cost of those parts is over $1000 including sales tax. I cannot seem to find used parts, and the online market price for these parts does not appear to be any better than what my local...
Last year my dad died at 89 he had a New Holland 1715 with a mower, disc, rake and a few other attachments. It has 685 hours so needs the 600 hour maintance I changed oil and filter and fuel filter and need to know if there is a manual worth buying to show the other items needing doing. The only...
have a new holland tractor and the starter dies. I cleaned it out now it works like a champ, and I see the bendix gear pops in and out as it should.
When I install it, though, it sounds to me like the starter gear is turning but the engine isn't turning over.
Any ideas?

1993 1715 bare bones. 600 hours maintained well. Very low torque when PTO is turning deck mower, for example. At normal power, RPM's remain normal, but PTO rotation and tractor speed slow considerably, especially on inclines. The deck mower...

My old Fordson tractor died, and I'm looking to replace it. I've got a JD 915 five foot rotary cutter as a legacy implement from the old tractor, and I would like to be able to rototill up to two acres a season. I'm looking at a New Holland 1715 on a dealer lot for about ~$7k; it has 2100...
I'm looking for the repair manual(s) for a Ford/NH 1715 and have read that there's not actually a manual specifically for the 1715. Does this sound right and if so which tractor will I need to buy the manual for? (1725, 1720, 1710, etc.) I don't need it right now, but would like to get one for...
The mechanical hour meter has stopped. Tach is in same unit and works great. It's mechanical. I pulled the unit out of the dash but cannot get it apart to check. Does anyone know how the bezel on this combo gauge comes off ? I gotta get it off to pull the unit apart. I put a few teeth marks on...
I have a 1997 1715. We have a coil display on the dash for the glow plugs. If that coil breaks does that disable the glow plugs when turned on for cold start??
thanks
Hi all. Yesterday I purchased a 1715 with FEL, new woods scraper blade, and new woods landscape rake. At $8800, I couldn't pass it up. It is a '96 in excellent shape with 700 hours.
My question is, I haven't found much info on the tractor. I know it was made from '93 to '96, and some...
