Depends on what you’ll be using it for. The 2430 is a better loader on level ground but not as versatile( even though all the attachments fit)as the 1430. The 1430 will do all the stuff your 425 does only it’s bigger.

Fun to watch peoples faces the first time they see you do that and they think something bad is about to happen.

Don’t forget, if you blow a hose on the PT while on that hill you’ll take that same ride. Ask me how I know.

My butt doesn’t like 30deg on any tractor. Lol. The point I was making is the 1430 is more stable on hills than the 2430. I have both.

If your land is that hilly your not going to feel stable with the 2430. It’s really a flat land machine. Unless you need the extra loader height, consider the 1430.

The 2430 is kind of under powered for hills. Same engine as the 1430 and weighs about 1000lbs more. I like mine for loader work and light digging with back hoe. For just about everything else the 1430 is better.

Are they building any new 1430’s. Last time I talked to Terry they were out of diesels and the engineers hadn’t come up with a solution for mounting the gas engines.

I’m curious what you used for a parking break.

Especially an 18,000 lb winch.

This is not a recommendation, only what I do when the temp goes down. I give it a 1 second shot of starting fluid and usually the engine starts right up and runs on both cylinders. Some say you shouldn’t use starting fluid in diesel engines but I’ve had no problems.

I once threw a baseball sized rock out the back while I was articulated and it bounced off the back tire and hit me in the ankle. I wasn’t injured but it hurt like ****. I made a guard on one brush hog from a piece of thick rubber conveyor belt.

That gasser might be worth looking into for my old 1435 that’s burning oil. Around here it might be cheaper than getting the Deutz repaired.

I assume in a barn or something, where your not moving far, you could run it while plugged in.

Looks like it’s all hydraulic too. Pumps driven by the electric motor. Seems like that would be a fairly easy conversion to the PT.

Now that’s really reaching back. I never did get around to putting a cab on any of the tractors. Now days I can just wait till the sun comes out.

Are you in a really dry climate? I dont think I’ve ever seen anything built with joists directly on the ground.

Yes. I can even pop parts of the grasses , digging and dividing in one step.

If your looking at mowers narrower than the tractor, you may as well pull behind. You can offset it so your driving where you’ve already cut. And if the mower has it’s own engine it won’t be ribbing power from your tractor.

You can remove your cable and take all the measurements and probably order from a supplier but being an infrequently replaced item, I find it's easier to just order from Power Trac. That being said, you could look at McMaster-Carr site and search for push pull cables.

Don't worry. Soon those break pins will freeze up and you will never use them again. :). I carry a wheel chalk on board to use when I park on a hill. Or sometimes it's fun to just walk away and see people pointing and yelling that your tractor is rolling away. You can always catch up to it.

Can't load a dump truck. That's why I got a dump trailer. Got one big enough so I can also transport the pt with it. How do the avants compare to pt 24xx series of the same size? As far as dump height go's.

I carry a Dewalt 18v battery powered impact wrench in my truck at all times. I use it to change brush hog blades on the PT and blades on the commercial Xmark mower. I have also driven many lag bolts with it. It has plenty of torque but it is kind of pricey.

Personally, I consider my power- tracs to be commercial grade. Mainly because I use them commercially and I charge good money to do so. They may not be as pretty as those foreigners, but they will get the work done just as well.

I use white lith when I have it or just motor oil when I don't. At 1500 hrs., no problems yet. I've even been so lax some times, where the loader sounded like an old squeaky door in a horror film.

I love my 1430 and have lots of attachments, including a the 60" finish mower. It will mow your lawn, but for the $2500 PT gets for the deck you could pick up a pretty good used commercial mower that will do the job better and faster. Use the PT for other fun stuff, I mean work.

I put solid Exmark castor wheels/ tires on my brush hog and have not had a problem since. If I remember right, I had to spread the forks a little to squeeze them in.

I've only used the mini hoe before so the side to side range seems pretty good to me. Don't even have to use the steering wheel, lol. So, did rebuilding the lift cylinder improve the lifting force? Did you need any special tools to do the job?

The mini hoe is the only backhoe I know of that I can pick up, throw on the trailer and take anywhere I go. it's very handy for what it is. I have planted and removed shrubs, dug trenches and post holes, and with the thumb, moved logs and rocks. The mini hoe with thumb works great for lifting...

I changed to synthetic several years ago and here's my take. If your going to do much field mowing on hilly terrain in hot weather, than the change over is definitely worth it. Otherwise, the original oil works fine.

I removed those covers about five years ago with no problems because of it. I lube the linkage more often because their out in the open. I would also like to come up with a quicker system for removing the floor plates.

That's the problem. The PT plow has no articulation at all. I think an attach setup similar to the PHD or brush hog would work much better. I find the light material bucket more useful for snow in my situation.

If you don't have barrels a 18 cu. ft. bucket should hold 1077lbs. of water. I don't think you could fit three 55 gal barrels in the bucket, but I am wrong as often as I'm right.

My 1430 has no case drains and it behaves like Snowridge describes. I can grab hold a log heavy enough to lift the rear wheels off of the ground and the tractor will still move. Can't steer, but the tractor will go.

I find carrying a good hand held leaf blower, while mowing in hot weather, to be handy for blowing out the coolers and blowing off the whole tractor. Even when away from the truck or house it's not to hard to find a place to strap it on to the tractor.

No Sir, that young man will have to change his attitude if he wants to work for PT. The only answer I could get out of Tazewell, to the same question was, we don't recommend it. I can kind of understand, for liability reasons, why they can't say it's OK to put the weaker QA on the bigger tractor.

I'm thinking of upgrading from a 1430 to a 1445. I don't really want to replace my arsenal of attachments, however. I was wondering how feasible it would be to mount a t-12 QA to the loader arms on a 1445. I know I would have to be careful not to overpower the lighter attachments with the bigger...

I don't have much experience with honda but have read that their larger engines, above 12hp or so, are not reliable like their smaller engines. Also, I went to Honda engines web site and could not find a horizontal shaft model over 20.5 hp.

I'm sure the mowers would work on fairly flat land, but the tlb's look like they would be unstable on side hills so PT don't recommend them. I could be wrong though.
