G1900S - Main Bearing Oil seal catastrophic failure **update...it may be dead**

Well, she has been hauled away. I was not going to mess with it, and the guy I bought a used JD from this morning paid me $50 to haul it away. It may have been worth more than that, but sometimes the easy way is worth it. RIP Kubota G1900S.

G1900S - Main Bearing Oil seal catastrophic failure **update...it may be dead**

Sad update. After going out to look at it again, it appears that the main bearing has failed, which is what blew out the oil seal. I think this is the end for my G1900s. Here are some pictures....tell me if I am correct in my assessment. (Changed the oil every year, checked levels regularly...

G1900S - Main Bearing Oil seal catastrophic failure **update...it may be dead**

That only took 30 minutes. Got to the seal, and it was stiff and loose in the fitting. The bearing behind the seal looks fine. Guess on Monday I will get the new seal, put it back together, and see if the problem is fixed.

G1900S - Main Bearing Oil seal catastrophic failure **update...it may be dead**

Well, I was talking nice about my G1900s just the other day, and today cutting grass, notices a stream of oil, drove immediately back to the shed, and her oil was empty. Added some more just to see where the major leak was, and it appears to be the main bearing seal. Good news is that the...

B7800 - Fuel bowl running out of fuel

Yesterday I removed the fuel filter and looked at it. It was missing some of the top ridge on one side, so maybe that was enough to not fully open the flow from the fuel tank? I pushed the spring-loaded valve on the fuel filter assembly, and fuel came out with good flow. I also removed the...

B7800 - Fuel bowl running out of fuel

I will do that this evening when it is a bit cooler. The more I think about it the more it makes sense that the issues is between the filter and the fuel tank, because the fuel pump has no problem driving the engine when the fuel bowl is full.

B7800 - Fuel bowl running out of fuel

So my temperamental B7800 is doing its thing. I have had it die on me a few times, and this morning I got it running, ran well for a couple passes with the belly mower, and then puttered and died. I got off right away and saw, as suspected, the fuel bowl was 1/2 empty (note the fuel tank is...

    G1900 - sticking starter solenoid?

I tore the starter down today (armature side). It had some dirt and grime on most of the surfaces, which I cleaned. I lightly sanded the brushes and the copper body, as well as the interior field coils (2nd picture), which were a bit pitted. I pushed in some more grease into the bearings, and...

    G1900 - sticking starter solenoid?

My g1900 starts fine sometimes, but other times I need to use a portable lithium ion jump battery. When I use the jump battery, when she is being stubborn, regular mode will not start the motor, but if I put the jump battery to extra boost she starts right up. It does appear to be a...

    B7800 - Annoying engineering flaw

If you look at my picture, it was not the weld that failed...it was the metal near the weld. The good news is that the muffler is easy to remove, and my welder only charged $32 to reweld the muffler and add the 2 braces. If you have welding skills might be worth it to pop the muffler out and...

    B7800 - Annoying engineering flaw

The muffler sits up on an exhaust pipe that ties into the exhaust manifold. There is virtually no support for the muffler, so the joint where the exhaust riser is welded into the muffler takes all the vibration. Well, after 800 hours the metal alongside the weld in the muffler failed. Had my...

Kubota B7800 - hard starting, lots of smoke, low idle

Here is a picture of the broken muffler (I was wondering what that rattle was under the hood). With the relatively heavy muffler sitting on top of that single exhaust pipe, with no other support, it is not a surprise that after 800 hours the weld would shake loose. I will ask my welder to add...

Kubota B7800 - hard starting, lots of smoke, low idle

Kubota B7800 - hard starting, lots of smoke, low idle

Update: Started it this afternoon after sitting for 2 days. No problems, just a touch of black smoke at the very start then good throttle response across the range. The tank was about 1/6, so it is possible that, if there is a leaky injector, the fuel tank did not have the pressure to push...

Kubota B7800 - hard starting, lots of smoke, low idle

Update: Started it this morning and it started right up with no black smoke and ran well, up and down the RPM range. I plan to get a bottle of diesel Kleen and dump it in the next full tank. I will start it again on Saturday, and see what it does.

Kubota B7800 - hard starting, lots of smoke, low idle

I went out to start it again after about 6 hours. It started fine, with just a little puff of black smoke at ignition. I will try starting it again tomorrow morning after sitting for about 14 hours and see what happens. I am starting to think that one of the fuel injector is bleeding down...

    Replacing a G1900 radiator..lots o fun

Yesterday (and the day before actually) I replaced the radiator on my G1900. G1900 - knocked off 4 of 6 HST fan blades...aaarrgghh

2 weeks ago I was running some fertilizer on the pasture with the G1900 in between removing the plow blade and mounting the 60 inch mowing deck. Some stupid little stick found the fan, and 4 blades were gone. The good news (I guess) is that the 2 blades left are on opposite sides, so the fan...

Rotary Cutter  To buy a rotary mower ( bush hog) or not?

I am going to have 4 acres of pasture to mow. I have a 60 inch deck for the B7800, and I guess I could use this to mow the pasture (I used my G1900 to mow it last year once the gras got going). This would save money. I could also get a 5 foot rotary mower, and leave the deck in the barn...
