    Student Loan Debt?

5x that here. Just had one put in about two years ago. It was a bureaucratic nightmare. Architects, Consultants, Designers, Builder....County People..... Horrible, took way too long. Really no help. Without it, they condemn the property.

    Good morning!!!!

61 outside this Am, heading to upper 60's. Rain expected. Not much accomplished yesterday. Day job sort of ruled the time. Wife got back home, so today I get to run my errands for gas, beer and food. Did not even manage to look at any project yesterday. Sigh. Hope all are on the mends. Be safe.

Reclaiming 5000 feet of 4 board horse farm fence.

Big project. Working with old outbuildings and oak boards I have found nails to be unpredictable in how they come out. Some are easy, others are stubborn. Some do more damage to the wood coming out, if at all. Don't have much to add other than wear gloves, and best of luck.

    Good morning!!!!

Wow, always so cool to hear history from people that lived it. I was fortunate enough to purchase our place from only the third owner. Even then, there were questions that remained unanswered and to this day. So much changes so quickly.

    Good morning!!!!

65 outside this AM, heading to upper 80's. Humid, chance of rain later. Trying to get accustomed to new coffee mug. LOL. Not working, too heavy, and just a tad bigger than the Keurig puts out. Did a preliminary survey of what is left available in the cabinets looking like Goldilocks for the...

    Good morning!!!!

My coffee took a dive off the desk this AM. Hit the floor and shattered into a quadrillion pieces. At least it missed the laptops on the way down, the server though got a good splash. That was the last of my favorite coffee mugs. Rough way to start the day.

    Good morning!!!!

66 outside this AM, heading to upper 70's. Humid and damp with rain expected. Again, seems to be the pattern for a few. Wishing for the sun so I can get some pics of all the blooming flowers. So pretty and colorful. Not much on the agenda today. Need to recover some more barn wood for the Milk...

What do you all do to be prepared for long term power loss?

Clean water. Mostly for animals is a bigger concern for us. I need an xfer switch just for my well pump. That would do it for us. I do have a hand pump... but lugging water is too much. Plus.. who knows what's up with that.. being a 100 years old. Gag.

You sure you can rezone? My county put minimum acreage requirements and a slew of other requirements that would impede if not outright discourage zoning/development changes.

63 outside this AM, foggy, heading to mid 70's. Rain expected today and for the rest of the week. Busy weekend, today will be no exception. 52 outside this AM, grey, and raining. Next ten days looks to be about the same according to the people who attempt to predict weather. No loose horse this AM. Fence showed no sign of where she got out yesterday. And the electric is good. Luckly there is enough to keep all the animals...

Long term planning of selling your home?

LOL. Unless your a dumbass like me and purchase a money pit that used to be a dairy farm and sink 20 years and a few hundred k into "renovation". No worries here about capital gains or selling if that time comes. There are enough bad memories to out number the good. LOL.

Can a Zero Turn mow high weeds in a bumpy pasture?

The time you spend trying to beat down 5 foot weeds with a ZTR would have been better spent on the tractor. Maybe don't let it get that high to begin with and then use the ZTR, after attempting to smooth the rough spots with the tractor.
  20. R

    Good morning!!!!

60 outside this Am, heading to upper 70's. Had to go round up a loose horse this AM. Not a fun way to start the weekend. Looks like fence work will be the order of the day. Hope all have a great start to the weekend. Be safe.

    Good morning!!!!

55 outside right now. Low fog banks over pastures. Barely see the horses grazing in spots. Should reach into the upper 80's today. Yesterday was pasture cutting time. Rescued SO from getting stick in mud. Showed her the FEL trick to unstick. More weed whacking on tap for today. Also, one more...
  22. R

    Good morning!!!!

Ahhhh... productive day. The SO broke out her tractor and started cutting the back eight acre pasture. I washed up the reclaimed barn wood and let the sun dry it. Will have to lay it out and start cutting in the AM. Looks like grass cutting season has officially started.

    Good morning!!!!

62 outside this AM, heading to lower 80's. Foggy outside too. Cannot see front pasture. Quick burst of rain last night. Yesterday mowed the grasses, that's the fourth full mowing of everything so far this year. Even took the weed wacker for a walk. More of that later. Post Office saga...

What to Look for in Zero Turn Mower

IMHO, suspension comfort is related to speed. Speed to me is time saved, so I went for speed and cut width. I have sort of figured out the areas to slow down on, but you know, when you hit a rough spot at speed your glad you have all the safety features, a robust deck and a forgiving body. LOL.

Long term planning of selling your home?

Around here, these appear to be city dwellers and relocators who have cashed out. Plus the stray lone proprietor whose business is doing well. Long term planning of selling your home?

Rent prices exceed mortgage amounts in my area right now. A decent apartment will run one close to 3k a month. Availability exceeds supply. I'd say another factor in the OP choices is employment. That could dictate area/location and quite possibly size of homestead.

Long term planning of selling your home?

Personally we have not planned to move or have made a move in 30 years. But speaking from experience with current and past family members, the sooner you start making formal plans to move the better. For you, that seems like now. One does not want to get to a point where one has to: - move...

Do You Have a Tractor Shed/Barn?

We have a 100 year old dairy barn that has been converted to horse stalls. No equipment goes in it. I have had two friends that their barns burned down from hot equipment. That suks. At least my carrier gave me a reason in my more than doubled premium a few years ago. And, is your house really classified as being on a farm? As you eluded to in a later post? Is that a difference maker between you and the insurance company? Farm with home? vs Home

    Good morning!!!!

52 outside right now, heading to lower 60s. Rain...off and on today. Last nights sleep interrupted by loudest thunder clap I have ever heard. Sounded like a USMC jet decided to go on multiple bombing runs with our house as the primary. Dang. Last minute camper modifications ruled the weekend...
