Laundry - GE washer suspension fix needed

They have inexpensive $100 or less for 4 replacement suspension spring assemblies on Amazon. I would say if you can get a clone/replacement for under $100 for 4, go for it. But $200 seems like a lot when the problem could be the drum bearing etc as others have indicated.

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

Ha funny one WOIC123 - I grew up since 8 yrs old running a JD 420 with a 2 bottom plow, allis combine, a 14t baler, old hay rake and forked manure by hand - a lot of hard work. I have no regrets leaving that hard, manual farm work behind, but I do miss the smell of a plowed field, or fresh cut hay.

Using cable or chain instead of blades on a riding mower

Don't use cable as bcp said, and with chain you will need a smaller 1/8" or maybe 3/16. Chain uses velocity to shred stuff vs cutting so takes more power to do the work, I'd stick with old blades and maybe try to raise the deck higher to clear rocks?

    My Industrial Cabin Build

Install a 1" whole house in line filter after the pump and use or fab a rigid mounting plate to remove the filer. You could do the 3/4 but the 1" is best for flow and longevity. Why is this happening is another subject, and there are several reasons 1) a new well will emit drilling fines or...

Clearing 154 acres of woods in west Tennessee

Yes, the county Ag Extension Agent can be a great source of info and help, but this is a working farm now, and just suggesting the OP get his plan together with maps and local regs. before bringing/inviting any govt agency on site. Livestock need water, and this is an existing 300 acre farm so...

    JD 445 Engine Replacement

Do a compression test and 100-120 PSI is the low end its worth pulling the head off and checking the top end - valves, head gasket, and cylinders for scoring, then decide a course of action. Or just repower - the Kawasaki are good engines you have noted in the original post.

    JD 445 Engine Replacement

If your going to keep it for mowing etc. then a repower is a good choice but sounds like you don't need/use it very much I would do a compression check, then pull the top end off and check the head gasket and valves - you may be able to fix for relatively low $. If the cylinder walls are...

Clearing 154 acres of woods in west Tennessee

Get topo map of the property Topographic Maps | U.S. Geological Survey to start to layout fields and low areas - and a water source/pond stream for cattle. You will need about 1.5-2 acres per head on grass and you need to rotate them through fields. In the low areas leave some of the trees for...

    Fencing and Posts

I'd say you are safe with 10-12' between T posts Wood - T-T-T -Wood set up makes a wood post every 40-45' so on 1000 Ft that's 30-35 wood posts less corner bracing etc. The T posts really just keep it in line and vertical, but you could run a heavier top wire too would help if you have...

    Fencing and Posts

We did 600' and I used TSC 5/6"x8 .40 CCA treated round SYP posts 15' OC and black 2x4" PVC coated to 9 GA fencing. Looked at the staplers and got this one...

Making Copper Pipe into Overhead Sprinkler

I know you want to use copper or similar materials, but in my opinion PVC or Poly pipe would be much easier, since if it's hot enough to melt or damage the poly or PVC (over 150F) then you have a real problem no matter the pipe. I have used Drip Depot and are happy with their products, and you...

1.5 acres. Am I nuts for thinking about a tractor?

Hi Kennebec, I don't know your soil/land but if it's anything like most of New England, every spade you turn up a rock. I started with a started with a 20HP Mitsubishi with a loader, then restored an L185 Kubota with a BH and finally got my B21 TLB in 2001. Strongly suggest getting a BH now...

1.5 acres. Am I nuts for thinking about a tractor?

Of course you need a tractor and welcome to TBN! For your tasks I would look at a little TLB (tractor-loader backhoe) - Kubota BX23s, Deere 2032, Yanmar 324, Kioti makes one too. What about snow and leaf removal too? The BH will enable you to lift rocks, build walls, dig small foundations...

    Jet pump question.

All standard pressure switches for well pumps need a storage tank to eliminate excessive cycling and more so with submersibles as they push a lot of water. Or you need a tank plus a CSV that valveman sells. I would also get a low pressure cutout switch in case the well runs dry, the low...

Congrats on your new machine - looks great - Welcome to TBN - also might want to update your state/location when you get around to it.

    Hour meter

Most commercial zero turns (my Ferris for example) the hour meter is connected thru the PTO switch so the hour meter clocks mowing or engaged time not engine run time. Check your wiring diagram and see if the CC is the same or maybe you can just connect it to the PTO switch and achieve the...

    Jet pump question.

If you know the well has a good flow rate and the static water level when pumping is 15-20' a single stage jet pump will work - HD has one for $170. Otherwise you need a more expensive 2 stage pump and two pipes will be able to pump from about 80', might as well get the submersible. However, I...

Mowing with 100hp and 3-pt Finish Mower

Getting a 72" vs your 60" might cut your mowing time by 15-20% or 2-3 hours given you cut it today in 15 hours. That's not a lot, so consider getting a good suspension seat for your ZG327 and if you aren't running Gator blades now try them - they cut well. Then there are Z-Glide front...

    Simplicity Zero Turns?

I think a trade deal (your local Ford 1700 for the Citation XT in PA) is just a problem waiting to happen. There are so many variables in this match up to go wrong, unless you get things really clear up front. A comment about the dealer "you will not be happy with the Citation XT vs Ferris) of...

    Simplicity Zero Turns?

The Citation on Facebook at $8K is a bit high and it states 54" deck, but its either a 52 or 61" and looking at the 2023 61" they list at $9900 so $8K is in the ballpark with only 6 hours. Also it has the same suspension as the Ferris and the 3400 transmission. I checked the Ferris ISX 52"...

    CaCL2 in Rear Tires

I did a similar project with a 1980's Kubota L185 which had calcium in the rims, but the rims were eaten thru around the valve stems and other areas. So I took the tires off the rims, had them sandblasted patched/welded and put new tubes and no calcium. IF your rims aren't rusted through or...

    Backhoe attachment

The only issue is that will reduce your lifting capacity and room in the bucket and having to remove it every time you want to grade/scoop would be a pain.. It would be better to attach a weight bracket as the front frame in front of the axle if possible as Vigo327 suggested. That would be...
