I have found you can extend the life of conventional gas water heaters by draining off the rust in the bottom once a year.
I get 18 yrs of service out of a 6 year warranty unit.
I could prob extend that quite a bit longer if I replaced the anode on a regular basis. But so far, I haven't...

I have a B6100 w a B219 FEL. There is a pump mounted in front of the engine (off the crank I guess). It is rated for 500 lbs but actual may be less, IDK. It works fine for yard work, snow removal, and firewood. Only 1 function works at a time though (ie. no curl and lift simultaneously).
I...

If it's electronic modules you're worried about then pulling the connector out of the module is what you need to do. Pulling a batt cable does nothing for a module that is still part of the circuit.

I'm having a brain faht heah.
What do you call those weights that weldors use to hold down work. They look kinda like a draftsman's duck (spline duck). Basically a weight with some bent wire poking out almost like bug legs.

This is the blizzard we got back in early Feb. It took an hour to dig out all the doors to the house/garage before I even got the power tools out. More due tonight.

Has anyone arc welded using 308 SS rods? I have some Blue Demon 308 I got from McMaster-Carr and have a very hard time getting the bead to look nice. It doesn't seem to wet out the base metal very well. And yes, I have tried turning up the heat. It ends up being lumpy and porous looking...

I'm starting to think about replacing the T12 fixtures in my unheated garage. In the winter, only one or two light up. One or two barely glow, and the rest do nothing (except maybe cost me money!).
It occasionally gets below 0 (F) here but single digits are common enough at night. Mostly...

Can't remember if this has been posted before but some interesting reading. Not sure if it's applicable to home made vehicles either. Anyway, enjoy:

How about 3M 5200. Very sticky, flexible , and waterproof.
I would also use something other than galvy. Al, Cu, or Pb as was mentioned in a previous post.
Would a kick out diverter help you any?

I built a 4 x 16 raised bed to try and grow some pumpkins this year. I'm letting them grow out onto the lawn at this point. However, I still have too many plants too close together. I'm planning on trimming some of the branch vines and maybe even some main stems to direct the growth to the...

A note for all you guys who hate grease guns:
I ran out of grease last weekend doing the front end of my truck. So I unscrewed the head end of the gun and removed the empty cartridge. I then removed the tail end of the gun, inserted the new cartridge (into the head end), replaced the head...

Gentlemen,
Does anyone have pictures of a B6100 with a backhoe and a ROPS? Also, could you tell me how high the ROPS is? The dealer can order one but has no pics of it. I would like to know what it looks like and especially how high it is bef I order one.

Found this on a motorcycle site:
The April/May edition of Machinist's Workshop did a test of penetrating oils where they measured the force required to loosen rusty test devices. Buy the issue if you want to see how they did the test. The results reported were interesting. The lower the...

I'm due to change the hydraulic fliud in my FEL and BH very soon. I have a 1979 B6100 4WD, regular old gear transmission, subframe mounted BH (B670) and B219 FEL. These each have their own separate dedicated hydraulic systems. No 3pt hitch installed.
I see a lot of oil acronyms around here...

This bridge spans the river bet Groveland and Haverhill. There's usually 10-20 ft of clearance under it depending on whether it's April or August. This is State Route 97 and it's currently closed to traffic.

Gentlemen,
I'm looking for some pics of how a ROPS would mount to a BX6100. Specifically, where/what it bolts to.
I have a 1979 BX6100 with a Kubota FEL and BH. FEL # B-219, BH # B-670. I have NO 3 pt hitch. The BH is NOT mounted to the 3pt hitch. It has a U channel frame that extends under...
