    Calcium Chloride for dust control

We put asphalt millings 1.5 to 2” thick ( it was supposed to be more) over a good gravel base. So far, it has worked out quite well. The rain does not wash out like 3/4 crush with dust. I just used our plate tamper and water to compact it. A year later, the tire path is like pavement and the...

Mahindra 1815 blowing 50 amp fuse.

Change them all Otherwise you will be chasing the problem. I think my 3616 (3 glow plugs) cost me $65 Canadian. I bought aftermarket (part number from my dealer as he had no stock) from Napa and got 3 of the last 7 in town. Cam

    Outdoor burning laws

We can burn tree and brush twice a year ( spring and fall) dependent on weather. Only material from the property. No wood waste or off property debris. This keeps the commercial waste companies from burning on rural lands. I would never burn the table saw scraps in my brush pile fires. 😉

Mahindra 1815 blowing 50 amp fuse.

Pull the jumper bar off the glow plugs and check each glow plug with an ohm meter. Each glow plug should be around 2 ohms. Less than .75 ohms would indicate a dead short that would cause the fuse to blow. Cam

    2015 4WD MAHINDRA

Our 3616 is from about 2015 if I remember correctly. The 4wd lever is down near the floor on the left side of the seat. Down is 4wd engaged and up is disengaged. There is a noticeable gear noise difference when 4wd is engaged. Cam

Trailer new to me, what is the pictured dip in the frame for?

Drywall suppliers around here had trailers similar that they towed behind a flat deck ( loaded with drywall). the trailer would be loaded with a very large telahandler with the front wheels set in the wells to reduce the height. It’s more common now to see a lift on the truck instead of a...

Can a Mahindra 1626 pull an RV?

Our 3616 will move a 6000# trailer via a ball on the front bucket. The issue is stopping it as the weight is reduced on the rear tires( where the brakes are). 4 wheel drive is a must to transfer braking force on the front wheels via the drive train.

    Well pump sizing

You need to know how high the pump will lift water and the flow you need. The pump needs to be sized for both. You compare these numbers to the pump cure to make sure the head/ flow is within the HP rating of the pump selected or the motor will fail. A water well/ pump shop will pull the HP...

Can someone recommend a good true RMS multimeter that has frequency measuring capability?

If I remember correctly, Fluke was bought by one of the tool companies about 5 yrs ago and might moved manufacturing off shore. Since I retired I don’t pay attention anymore. Meter leads are a consumable. They must be tested before use. Again, if you are testing to confirm something is off...

Can someone recommend a good true RMS multimeter that has frequency measuring capability?

Just remember, you are bringing The line voltage into the meter. Cheap is not better when we are talking about your life. Make sure whatever you choose, it is rated by a reputable certification organization for the voltage and energy that you are going to measure. For home use, Cat 3 600volt...

What is the coldest you have ever been ?

We were camping in Banff in mid November one year. It was about -20c and everything was fine. The cold front was coming and -25 to -30 was in the forecast so we headed back towards home on the west coast. The cold caught up with us the following night when we stopped. We awoke to the camper...

    Hydraulic top link connections

AB and CD are fluid out one hole and back in the other. They would be for a “double acting“ cylinder like your hydraulic top link. If you had ”single acting” cylinder like what is on a dump truck where the hydraulic fluid goes to one end of the cylinder and it extends it when you push the...

    Snowplow hydraulics

In order for a single acting cylinder to collapse, the oil must return to the tank. The speed of that is dependent upon the amount of fluid that can pass through the smallest opening and the force applied to collapse the ram. Cam

    Tree climbing gear

    Snowplow hydraulics

I use a 2 way hydraulic cylinder and use my loader valve, up/ down, right /left for the angle. For float, the arm that the cylinder lifts is connected to the plow via a short chain. I can add down pressure by the arm pushing on the plow frame with the lift arm( I built it that way). Cam

    Snow Tractor won’t start tonight.

Do your headlights dim when you try to start? If so, you may have a dead battery or bad battery connection. A volt meter on the + of the starter does the same test. The reading should not be less 10.5v. Otherwise, if your battery is good, chase the start cct from + to each of the safety...

How to build a snow plow for use on a skid steer

I am indeed frame mounting my snowplow on my tractor, hence the need for a lifting method. My old frame mounted plow on the small tractor was just bolted at about 25 degrees.
