Task Master 425A
Hi folks, My 2006 Chinese-made Taskmaster 425 has over 3,000 hours on it. Now the 3 PT hydraulic lift won't stay up. I have the engine manual and parts diagram. If anyone out there has had a similar problem with the lift hydraulics, who might be able to help direct me to which parts would be involved with fluid seeping back down the system after lifting, that would be great. In the diagram, I see the main shuttle valve in the body of the valve. and a spring loaded set-up that might be a check valve. TY

I'll say you have bad piston seals for the 3 pt cylinder, specially considering the 3,000 hours.

So you think the cylinder and piston, not the control valve?

Yes, I'm thinking is the piston seals.

I don't know what type of 3 pt control valve that tractor has though. If it's a position control valve or a regular valve that only goes up and down with no position feedback. With bad piston seals, in the first case, the 3 pt would jump up and down very fast. In the second case, the 3 pt would just drop and not stay in place.

speed control and lifting power seems about the same as ever. Not jumpy. But I can see bad seals losing pressure, slowly, as it does unless the controi lever is held in the up position. TY

Not sure if you have a problem or not, my 3PH will allow load to settle to down position over 6-8 hours, did it since new.... Since all I usually have on 3PH is my ballast weight I put stay/check chains on it to keep ballast at constant height and takes strain off of the hydraulics.... BUT you situation may be different....

Piston seal on the ram on our yanmar tractor. Removed the seat and access cover under it, pulled the piston and put a new ring on it and done.

It's not a Yanmar.

Does it fall down while using it, or come down overnight? Not supposed to park it with lift up. Little neighbor kids tend to get under lifted things.

But, if it leaks over time, show me a tractor that don't leak down.
