MX5400....I hate the seat safety switch

I'm not sure its possible with this style safety switch. Its installed into the bottom of the seat itself, and extends into the actual cushion portion of the seat. Its not a lever style where weight on the seat frame engages, you have to push down on a specific portion of the seat. I really...

MX5400....I hate the seat safety switch

While this is the simplest option, I don't necessarily like the idea of completely disabling it...that being said, its too much of a PITA right now to not so something about it.

MX5400....I hate the seat safety switch

I bought a new MX5400 in '22, and I am almost ready to completely disable the seat safety switch. It entirely too sensitive, and and just about any change in position on the seat will shut the tractor down. I'm 170lbs, and its aggravating trying to run/watch any implement behind you without...

    Farm/tractor folks....PTO clutch pack?

Wow, those import PTO clutch shafts are cheap! I checked the springs in a vise, and they don't have much compression travel at all...then again, the replacement ones I've found on line don't look like they have a lot of travel, either.

    Farm/tractor folks....PTO clutch pack?

I have a Land Pride 6' bush hog, and have been having issues with it breaking shear pins, despite having a clutch pack on the output yoke on the gear box. I *thought* it was maybe rusted/seized together, but I suspect the tension springs have simply been compressed too much. I pulled the...

    Help with Ford 3930...no crank

Cat 1 vs 2 hydraulic 3pt hitch top links

I have a Kubota L4630 with hydraulics on one of the lower 3pt hitch links and the top link as well. The top link hydraulic cylinder started leaking around the ram seal, but we have been unable to get the gland nut removed to rebuild the cylinder. Took it to one of the local hydraulic shops...

    Help with Ford 3930...no crank

I have 11.8/11.9v going to the ignition terminal on the starter solenoid. My plan was to simply apply 12v to this terminal with the wire removed, but couldn't access it...its pretty well blocked by the plastic shroud around the solenoid and the filter housing. So, instead of applying 12v to...

    Help with Ford 3930...no crank

7/30 Update Finally had a chance to play around with the tractor again. I pulled the input(?) wire off the starter solenoid, and tested the connector...I get 11.9v with the key switched to the "CRANK" position. Seems like it would be enough voltage to close the solenoid, but not 100% sure. I...

    Help with Ford 3930...no crank

Here's what I've been able to check so far... Battery reads 12.34v with no load. Not ideal, but should be enough to at least engage the starter. I tried a different jump pack, and was getting 15+ volts to the battery...which dropped to 14.8 or so with the key engaged. I did a load test...

    Dump Truck recommendation

I'm a little late to this, but I can give you my experience with dump trucks. I have a mid-80's GM70 medium duty with a 14' dump bed, 366ci gas V8, and 5spd with 2spd rear. First of all, it has absolutely zero creature comforts. No A/C, minimal heat, and rides like, well, a 1980's dump truck...

    L48 HST issue

Figured it out. A small tree stump was able to wedge itself in between the outer frame bars and into the linkage, and bent (not sure what they're called, still have to find a schematic) a couple pieces. I *think* this is called the neutral assembly arm, I was able to mostly get it...

    L48 HST issue

I have an '03 Kubota L48 backhoe with the HST transmission and around 850 hrs. Today, I was clearing a small lot behind the garage when the rocker pedal for forward/reverse felt like it bound up, to the point it wouldn't "rock" forward or backwards. I played around with it a bit, and now it...

    Adding zerk/grease fitting?

Ok, finally had a chance to post a few pics. Every pin that has broken has been in this exact same spot. Its important to note that not only is the crack in the middle of the "groove", but seems to originate/track from the grease port/hole that feeds grease out from the center (into...

    Adding zerk/grease fitting?

Oddly enough, I have three different Kubotas with FEL's, and it's the only one to ever break a pivot pin. That being said, my old '07 4330 (if I remember correctly, it's been replaced with a MX5400) and newer 7060 both have the external zerk fittings on the pins.
  23. J

    Adding zerk/grease fitting?

At least once its been on the opposite side, where the rod is for bucket position. The pins are exactly the same, with the exception of the additional "boss" for the bucket rod assbly to attach.

    Adding zerk/grease fitting?

I have an '03 L48 backhoe, with roughly 1100 hours. I've now broken the hinge pin on the FEL 3 or 4 times (I think its called "Pin 7"), the pin that attaches the ram end of the cylinder to the tilt portion of the bucket attachment. This pin has a grease fitting on the end, with a hole drilled...

    Bleeding air from Ford 3930?

Thanks, I believe that was the problem. I pulled the assembly, not sure what its called, and the filter had some junk on the screen. Cleaned it all up, and the tractor seems to be back to normal. I do know that "cover" assembly (#39 in the schematic) houses a bunch of different things...

    Bleeding air from Ford 3930?

    Adding FEL to Ford 3930

So, I can assume this tractor will provide 7+ GPM of flow? What convinced me to even consider using it with the 3930 is the guy that helped load the Bush Hog FEL assembly was using a similar year 3910 with loader, and it seemed to do fine. I am a little concerned with how the tractor will do...

    MX5400 breakout/lift strength?

Counter balance (or lack thereof) isn't the issue here...I've run the exact same bucket with the exact same box blade on the 4330. At no point is it trying to pick up the rear of the tractor, or even act like it's trying to lift the rear. I still need to play around with it a bit, and see if...

    MX5400 breakout/lift strength?

The MX5400 is a geared, while the L4330 was a GST. The L48 is an HST, and I've never had issues with it (or the L4330) scooping gravel. Maybe I simply need some more time on the MX, but it definitely feels *different*.

    MX5400 breakout/lift strength?

    MX5400 breakout/lift strength?

It doesn't seem to be a ballast issue, as its not trying to move or lift the rear. Granted, I need to check and see how much weight is in the rear tires, but I can't tell you how many tons of crusher run and #57 I have moved with the 4330 (using the exact same box blade on the rear).

    L4630...no FEL?

The only reason I am asking, the owner stated that with this particular year model (2009 maybe?), there was no factory/Kubota option for a FEL. I thought it was odd, as I couldn't imagine Kubota offering this particular style tractor with no loader option.

    L4630...no FEL?

Anyone familiar with Kubota L4630's, and whether there were model years that wouldn't accept an OEM Kubota front end loader?
  51. J

    How much weight up front?

Add in the FEL, and the L4330 is much closer to 5k lbs...plus, it has all the extra weight where it needs it most, out in front of the tractor.

    L vs M series Kubotas?

As long as the price is right, looks like the MX5400 may be the perfect tractor for my needs. It will be a transition going from the GST on the L4330 to the standard shift, but not really any difference with the 3910 & 3930 we already have.

    L vs M series Kubotas?

Checked today, the tractor is an MX5400DT. One difference I've noticed with the 4701, is the FEL lift capacity on the 5400 is a decent amount higher. I'll watch the video above a little later, I'm interested in seeing what the differences are. We have an M7060 now with a cab, so it will be...

I've had a Kubota L4330 since around 2006, and just sold it with plans on replacing with a new L4701. The 4330 was dead solid reliable, and never had any issues with the tractor...so I have been very happy with the L series. On the other hand, the dealer is offering an MX5200 for around $3k...
