    MIG questions

I am thinking about getting a portable 120 volt MIG welder to do some floor pan repair on an old Mustang. Can you buy the gas bottles or do you have to lease them? Around here you can't buy oxy/acetylene tanks, you must lease them from the supplier. What about flux core wire? Does that work well...

    TC-29 DA Hydraulic problem

Hey guys Today when I went to use the loader it was acting very strange. The raise/lower function seems to work ok but curl function is messed up. If I pull the joystick to the left, the bucket seems to curl back normally but when I move the joystick to the right about half way, the bucket will...

BX MMM Chute Function AND Mulching kit?

I made my own mulching kit. I took a piece of heavy gauge sheet metal, cut it to fit the opening of the discharge chute, welded a piece of angle iron to the top of the sheet metal and then welded two 1/4 inch bolts to the angle iron. Theses bolts act as locating pins for the two holes I drilled...

    Brand new truck-rusty frame

Somebody I know recently bought a brand new Chevy 1500 pickup. It's a beautiful truck but when I looked underneath I noticed that there were some small 1" size spots of surface rust already starting on the frame. There were also some large areas (about 6 to 8 inches square) on the rails and...

Did this thread get pulled? I haven't seen any posts in a long time.

Mulcher for a BX1860 54" deck any advice?

Here is the chute blocker that I made, it's not as fancy as Scooby's but it works great for mulching leaves. It's just a piece of heavy sheet metal with a piece of angle iron welded to the top. I then welded two short bolts to the angle iron. Those bolts act as locating pins for the two holes...

pickin up leaves, what do you use?

I converted my BX into a mulcher by making a plate that covers the opening of the mower deck. Only cost a few bucks to make and it works really well.

Home made mulcher for BX photos

Here are some photos of a mulcher plate I made for the BX. I just cut out a piece of heavy gauge sheet metal to match the shape of the mower outlet and welded a piece of angle iron to the top of it. I then drilled two holes on the top of the deck for the two 1/4 inch bolts that I welded to the...

    BX Broken front axle

I noticed that the steering stop bolt is broken off for the right front wheel, it looks like the casting snapped off from the steering knuckle. Has anyone ever seen this before? If I can find the missing part that broke off can it be welded back on? The tractor is a BX 1500 with only about 300...

There's more than one way to break a tire bead

Recently I had to replace the valve stems on the BX1500 because they were cracked and dry rotted. Using the backhoe and a block of wood was the only way we could get tire beads broken, I'm sure there are other creative ways to do this.

    Should I stain my deck?

I just powerwashed my deck which is around 30 years old. The deck is made from pressure treated wood and has never been stained or sealed, in fact, it had never even been cleaned. It was really covered with mildew and looked nasty but after cleaning it now looks almost like new, I was amazed. I...

Anyone know how the BX PTO system works?

When you move the lever to engage the PTO on the BX, are you engaging a clutch, or are you opening a hydraulic valve that sends fluid to a hydraulic motor that makes the PTO turn?

Anyone ever put down a cork floor?

I need to renovate the kitchen and bathroom and I'm looking at options for the type of floor to use. Was wondering if anyone has the cork flooring and what you think of it. Thanks

Converted from oil to natural gas

This past fall I needed to replace the 25 or 30 year old oil burner with a new unit. I decided on a high efficiency condensing gas boiler, it only cost a little bit more than the price a new oil burner and replacing the the original tank which was over 50 years old. Boy do I like this unit, it...

Brand new BX 1500 (well almost)

Just picked up an 03 BX 1500 with just 270 hours with a 54" MMM from a fellow TBN member, this thing is in mint condition and it looks brand new. I've owned other tractors but this is my first experience with the BX series and I'm really impressed with the way it is built. If any one has any...

    Rim corrosion

I recently bought a used 2003 NH TC-29 with R4 tires. While attempting to check the tire pressure I discovered the rears were filled with what I assume is calcium chloride. I had to drain about four or five gallons out of each tire in order to get the level to the proper point with the valve...

    learnin' to use the backhoe

I recently picked up a TC-29 with a Woods backhoe, this is my first CUT so I needed to learn how to use it. I've watched many exprienced operators use backhoes and boy do they make it look easy. After a few hours now I think I'm getting the hang of it, but it takes a lot of eye-hand coordination...

    Dirt Moving  TC-29 Weak hydraulics?

It is my understanding that there are 3 bucket sizes available for the TC-29, 48", 60" and a 68" heavy duty. My tractor has the 68" HD bucket and here is my problem. When moving piles of top soil it is impossible to load up a full bucket. When pushing into the pile, the bucket only will go about...

    Greetings from Connecticut

Hi guys, just picked up a 2003 TC-29D with 900 hours, a FEL and a Woods backhoe. This is my first CUT so I'm having fun learning to use it. This website is great and I'm looking forward picking up lots of useful info.
