    Built My first garage-shop with no windows, put windows in my second Garage-shop and now wish I wouldn’t have put in any windows. Windows need to be cleaned, loose wall space, seem to attract flies, often block vision because of sun in eyes. My opinion the windows were mostly just wasted money.

    My rear mounted snowblower built in Canada according to the owners manual requires a 1/4 x 1 inch shear bolt for the auger and a 8mm x 50mm bolt for the PTO. I use self locking nuts on both otherwise they simply don’t stay tight.

    My older tractors the 3 point hitches settle down overnight all the way. My new LS both the front loader and rear 3 point seem to stay up but for safety reasons I lower the loader down when parked overnight , if there is a rear implement attached I also lower the 3 point for safety.

    The old style tip are fine but on my old loader many of them were nearly impossible to grease because of very lousy locations. The new style tips pretty much eliminate the hard to access issues.

    My 8N also has a front mounted distributor, couple years ago the coil went bad so I bought a new coil from Carqust and was amazed at how easy it was to install, the tractor starts better now than it ever did before. The coil didn’t cost much and it has a free lifetime replacement warranty.

    One of the best things I ever did to my 8N was convert it to 12 volt. Its a great little tractor but a few years ago I added a brandnew LS XR4155 to the lineup and very glad to have it, it makes many jobs so much easier.

    OK to use 85W140 rather than 80W90 gear oil in a Super C parade tractor?

    Over 30 years ago I put new rear axels and seals in my 8N Ford along with 85-140 oil , it’s been working fine, about the only real difference I noticed is during cold winter weather it takes a while for the oil to warm up so the 3 point isn’t so slow.

    Diesel engines usually don’t like cold weather when starting but I have operated a couple New Holland Diesel engines that sat outside overnight when it was 10 below zero and with glowplug use they would start almost instantly and not even smoke !

    At 30 degrees mine will start but sometimes it will act sort of like yours did today, but if I plugin the block heater for a half hour or more it will start much better so that’s what I usually do, if it’s below zero I prefer to have it plugged for a few hours before starting.

    Have what appears to be the exact same welder, bought it new back in about 1980 , it has worked very well for my use but I’m mostly just a rookie welder with very little training. Put wheels and longer cables on mine. It works excellent for heavier duty welding with 7018 rods.

    Yes that was a big reason why I didn’t go with the standard quick hitch, my snowblower PTO is the type with the sliding collar instead of the old fashioned simple push button so hooking and unhooking in limited space is more difficult.

    Drove through my local LS dealer lot today, about 15 new tractors and most of them had loaders mounted, they must be selling pretty well because there were quite a few different models since last time I drove through a couple weeks ago, my opinion they seem to be doing very well.

    I have Husqvarna 562XP and like it, considered the 372XP but it seems to big and heavy for me to carry around much in the woods. Also own a 400 Echo lots of folks brag about them being great saws but the only great thing I have to say is it’s light and starts very easy, it’s handy for light work.

    probably nothing to do with the issues your experiencing but I’ve been told your supposed to unplug block heater before starting the engine. Have you been using winter blend fuel ? I would probably try changing the fuel filter and see if that helps.

    I realize you seem to be totally against the idea of reversing the blade but I recommend giving it a try you might learn something new. On my tractor it’s pretty easy to reverse the blade, just remove the pivot pin and spin the blade around, takes about 1-2 minutes and no manual lifting.

    My opinion block heater is a better choice, it heats the liquid inside the block so it’s more efficient than those old fashioned pump type heaters that heat the liquid in the hoses that’s just wasted energy.
