Built My first garage-shop with no windows, put windows in my second Garage-shop and now wish I wouldn’t have put in any windows. Windows need to be cleaned, loose wall space, seem to attract flies, often block vision because of sun in eyes. My opinion the windows were mostly just wasted money.

I recommend getting a couple bids to do the work start to finish, you will probably learn a few helpful things along the way that will still be helpful if you decide to buy a tractor and do it yourself.

My rear mounted snowblower built in Canada according to the owners manual requires a 1/4 x 1 inch shear bolt for the auger and a 8mm x 50mm bolt for the PTO. I use self locking nuts on both otherwise they simply don’t stay tight.

My older tractors the 3 point hitches settle down overnight all the way. My new LS both the front loader and rear 3 point seem to stay up but for safety reasons I lower the loader down when parked overnight , if there is a rear implement attached I also lower the 3 point for safety.

I have operated lots of 3point equipment with and without a hydraulic top link, I very highly prefer having the hydraulic top link. But It definitely costs more money.

I have never seen any brand of tractor that wasn’t equipped with some kind of parking brake.

The old style tip are fine but on my old loader many of them were nearly impossible to grease because of very lousy locations. The new style tips pretty much eliminate the hard to access issues.

My 8N also has a front mounted distributor, couple years ago the coil went bad so I bought a new coil from Carqust and was amazed at how easy it was to install, the tractor starts better now than it ever did before. The coil didn’t cost much and it has a free lifetime replacement warranty.

I just wish my new tractor would have come from the factory with break away couplers, haven’t had any problems yet but suspect someday I’m going to drive away from a piece of equipment without disconnecting the hoses first and it’s going to cause a lot of damage.

I have bought the premixed stuff twice when buying new saw and new trimmer only because they extend the warranty if you buy it when you buy the equipment new. It’s very expensive like over $9 a quart ! Around here all the hardware stores and Walmart carry premix as well as some gas stations...

I’ve been using red plastic gas cans for over 40 years and never experienced any problems. I do have some blue plastic drums but never used them for fuel, they do seem like nice heavy duty barrels.

One of the best things I ever did to my 8N was convert it to 12 volt. Its a great little tractor but a few years ago I added a brandnew LS XR4155 to the lineup and very glad to have it, it makes many jobs so much easier.

Over 30 years ago I put new rear axels and seals in my 8N Ford along with 85-140 oil , it’s been working fine, about the only real difference I noticed is during cold winter weather it takes a while for the oil to warm up so the 3 point isn’t so slow.

Have what appears to be the exact same welder, bought it new back in about 1980 , it has worked very well for my use but I’m mostly just a rookie welder with very little training. Put wheels and longer cables on mine. It works excellent for heavier duty welding with 7018 rods.

Yes that was a big reason why I didn’t go with the standard quick hitch, my snowblower PTO is the type with the sliding collar instead of the old fashioned simple push button so hooking and unhooking in limited space is more difficult.

Drove through my local LS dealer lot today, about 15 new tractors and most of them had loaders mounted, they must be selling pretty well because there were quite a few different models since last time I drove through a couple weeks ago, my opinion they seem to be doing very well.

Never even heard of a hydraulic top link until I started shopping for a new tractor and as soon as I heard about it I wanted one, it works great and I love having it.

My Stihl trimmer is about 5 years old and still has the guard , it doesn’t seem to help much but it also doesn’t bother much.

I’ve operated very similar machine but the automatic brakes that are supposed to come on when the door is open were disconnected. Anytime you get out of a machine like that the engine should be set at idle or shut off and the blade should be put down on the ground so it can’t roll very easily...

Rims rust out even without fluid in tires, I have had to replace 3 rims on my 72 years old Ford 8n because of rust.

I have also been considering using a blue plastic 55 gallon barrel for diesel fuel, how do you plan to get the fuel out of the barrel and into your equipment ? I would most likely have a local fuel business come out and fill the barrel.

Was worried that possibly messed up draining water from the filter last week but I used the tractor for a couple hours today plowing snow and some other work and it started and ran perfect as usual.

Might also try Menards if you have one near by.

I have been using 3 edge tamers on 72 inch bucket but suspect 2 would probably work about the same, I might actually try only 2 sometime and see what happens. On rough terrain I’m sure 3 would work better than 2.

I used to operate a very similar machine, yes it had built in safety switches to prevent accidents but they were disconnected. I actually heard of a driver that got run over and killed because he stopped in the middle of nowhere to take a leak while standing on the track

Removing and cleaning under the chain-sprocket cover is very important, I’ve never experienced the cover getting damaged but all that crap getting built up under there definitely prevents things from working as well as they could.

Front mount blower would definitely easier to operate . I have rear 3 point blower because I didn’t want to remove the front end loader, I use the front loader a lot for moving snow.

Very unfortunate that your nearest LS dealer is 300 miles away, quite a few LS dealers in my area. LS has been in business since 1962, started building tractors in 1977. New Holland dealers are not allowed to become LS dealers. I recommend getting your seal replaced and don’t tell LS about it...

probably nothing to do with the issues your experiencing but I’ve been told your supposed to unplug block heater before starting the engine. Have you been using winter blend fuel ? I would probably try changing the fuel filter and see if that helps.

Well I only read the last page and the first 2 pages but I have no idea what “floppy bucket syndrome” might be, my LS bucket seems to work fine.

Lube my blower chain using old paint brush and used motor oil. When the tensioner gets near the limit it’s time to replace the chain, my blower is only 2 years old so I’m not expecting to need to replace the chain anytime soon.

I do find it interesting that different manufacturers choose different ways to do the regeneration, my LS does it automatically, there is a switch to turn regeneration off but I have never had any reason to turn it off.

I realize you seem to be totally against the idea of reversing the blade but I recommend giving it a try you might learn something new. On my tractor it’s pretty easy to reverse the blade, just remove the pivot pin and spin the blade around, takes about 1-2 minutes and no manual lifting.

My opinion block heater is a better choice, it heats the liquid inside the block so it’s more efficient than those old fashioned pump type heaters that heat the liquid in the hoses that’s just wasted energy.

Hydraulic top link would be very handy.
