    The reason that tail wheel has a long shank (and lots of spacers) is that the rear mounting bracket is rigid. Newer rough cut mowers have a height adjustable mounting bracket.

    That's an odd set up. What is the diameter of the shank? Whatever you buy, you will probably have to weld an extension on to it (standard shanks are 5"-6"long and generally 1 1/4" in diameter).

    If the 2511t is on sale for $160 less than the TN model that's a bargain. Usually the TN model is only $10 more. I have the TN Nano chain model, and it cuts faster and with less chatter than the stock chain. You could buy the stock version and get teh Nano kit later if you wanted to.

    I don't have anything to add to your specific situation, but if I had a gearbox that was leaking (with 80/90 oil), I would add a little cornhead grease. grease, or straight STP just to keep things full and "oily".

    The best paint I have ever used is Vaspar Implement paint. Among other things, I painted the bucket on my skidsteer. Even gravel didn't take it off! edited ; Sadly, Valspar no longer sells implement paint.
