Dealership called yesterday and said they could deliver my new CK 4020HSE with cab today. It arrived about 9:00 AM and looks great. The whole buying experience was very good. The dealer didn't add in extras or fees and didn't even require a deposit or down payment for my order. They delivered the machine and I paid the driver with a cashier's check. While talking to the delivery driver he told me that this dealer was selling more than 400 Kioti tractors a year making it the #1 dealer in the nation. That really surprised me because the dealership is located by itself out in rural NC and 30 minutes from a town of any real size.

Didn't get to play with it much because the grandchildren are visiting this weekend and we are trying to spend our time with them.

My biggest concern with the tractor that I will have to work through is how to reposition the tractor when using the backhoe since it has a cab. I am used to a small Kubota tractor without a cab where I could reach up front and operate the loader while seated in the backhoe position. It will also take a few hours to get used to the controls being different. I really like the hydrostat pedals better than the treadle but a couple of times while moving the tractor I automatically tried to use my heel to move in reverse before catching myself.

Looking forward to putting the new machine to work.
Always great to hear about a great dealer!!!

Y'know, you could have put the grand kids in the tractor...a bucket-load of kids for a picture would have been pretty cool. That way you would have had shared play time--grand kids and a new tractor, the best of all worlds! What a blessed guy!
I am definitely a blessed guy! God is good!

The grandkids took most of my energy last week but we had fun. The firepit I built this spring has been a real hit.

Got to play with my new toy today. Successfully dropped the backhoe off in about 10 minutes. Just hope it doesn't take too long to put it back on.

It has been very dry this month of September and when I put the flail mower on I created a huge cloud of dust from the bare spots as a result of Hurricane Helene. I am going to enjoy the cab! No dust on me and no allergy side effects. Didn't give much thought to buying a tractor with a cab until this summer when I got access to a skid steer that had a cab. Having AC in the 95 degree weather makes a huge difference and when I ran over several yellow jackets nest I just smiled as they swarmed the windows.

I tried out the backhoe before I dropped it to remove some tree roots and it seems to be pretty powerful. Being used to a Kubota BX backhoe I tended to get too close to my work and had to reposition a couple of times.

The move from a treadle to pedals is coming along but sometimes that muscle memory takes a while to retrain.

Two other things that will take some getting used to are: to start the tractor your foot has to be on the brake and sometimes finding the right spot for neutral to start up takes a couple of tries.

Tomorrow I plan to weld some hooks on the loader bucket.

One demerit for no thumb on the backhoe. But if you've never had one you don't know what you're missing. You can always add one later.
